“Iraqi Scenario” to Take Down Syria

Source: Kurt Nimmo

Syria has accused the United States and Britain of telling lies about its supposed use of chemical weapons. Syria says it has not used the weapons and does not possess them.

“Everything that the American minister and British government have said lack credibility,” Syrian Information Minister Omran Al-Zoub told Russian TV on Friday. “It’s baseless, and it’s a new tactic to put political and economic pressure on Syria.”

They “want to manipulate the issue, to let whoever used the chemical weapons … get away (with it), and to repeat the Iraq example,” Al-Zoubi said.

Russia’s foreign minister has warned against repeating the “Iraqi scenario” where Bush neocons installed in the Pentagon fabricated evidence concluding Iraq possessed weapons of mass destruction.

Prior to the March 2003 invasion of Iraq, United Nations weapons inspector Hans Blix found no stockpiles of WMD despite claims made by the Bush administration and the corporate media.

“The biggest regret of all the presidency has to have been the intelligence failure in Iraq,” Bush told ABC News prior to his departure from the White House. A 2008 Senate Intelligence Committee report stated that the Bush administration had “misrepresented the intelligence and the threat from Iraq.”

Earlier in the week, Defense Secretary Chuck Hagel said the Obama administration believes “with varying degrees of confidence” that the Syrian government used chemical weapons. Speaking from Abu Dhabi, Hagel said the government believes “any use of chemical weapons in Syria very likely originated” with Syrian president Bashar al-Assad.

“We have been very clear to the Assad regime, but also to other players on the ground, that a red line for us is we start seeing a whole bunch of chemical weapons moving around or being utilized. That would change my calculus,” Obama said in August, 2012. “That would change my equation. . . . We’re monitoring that situation very carefully. We have put together a range of contingency plans.”

The Obama administration, however, is taking a cautious approach to the latest accusation. “Our intelligence community does assess with varying degrees of confidence that the Syrian regime has used chemical weapons on a small scale in Syria, specifically the chemical agent sarin,” White House legislative director Miguel Rodriguez said in letters to Sen. Carl Levin, D-Mich., and John McCain, R-Ariz.

The U.S. and Israel have cited photos, shelling and traces of toxins to make the claim Syria is using chemical weapons.

The Israeli military said Syrian forces used sarin and displayed for reporters photographs of a body it claimed showed evidence of nerve gas exposure.

“There is a limit to what you can extract from photograph evidence alone,” said Ralf Trapp, an independent consultant on chemical and biological weapons control. “What you really need is to getinformation from on the ground, to gather physical evidence and to talk to witnesses as well as medical staff who treated victims.”

Despite the paucity of evidence, Israeli Brigadier-General Itai Brun, the head of military intelligence research at the Israeli Defense Forces, said the lack of international response to the alleged use of sarin nerve gas was a “very worrying development.”

“There’s a huge arsenal of chemical weapons in Syria. Our assessment is that the [al-Assad] regime has used and is using chemical weapons,” he said.

Obama spokesman Jay Carney said that while the Israeli accusation is of concern, U.S. intelligence has yet to independently confirm the assessment.

The White House has only just begun its fight against the Second Amendment, Vice President Joe Biden told New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg’s Mayors Against Illegal Guns during a conference call on Wednesday.

“This is just the beginning. We believe that weapons of war have no place on our streets,” Biden said. “We believe there’s no rational reason why someone would need a clip that can hold 15, 20, 100 bullets, 100 rounds. We have to do more and we will do more.”

Biden said he believes Congress will ultimately force the American people to report their gun purchases to the federal government. “I think we’re on the verge of getting a serious thorough universal background check system in place,” he added.

“This so-called background check is aimed at one thing — registering your guns,” the NRA’s Wayne LaPierre said in February. “When another tragic opportunity presents itself, that registry will be used to confiscate your guns… Imagine right now your name on a massive government list.”

Biden said an upcoming vote in the Senate will not be the end of the government’s effort to restrict the Second Amendment and disarm the American people. “That doesn’t mean this is the end of the process. This is the beginning of the process,” he promised Bloomberg’s gun-grabbers.

The Vice President insisted Americans support having their Second Amendment stripped. “The American people are way ahead of their political leaders,” he said. “And we, the president and I and the mayors, intend to stay current with the American people.”

Prior to the Sandy Hook massacre, support for the Second Amendment was at an all-time high. “In 2008, Gallup found widespread agreement with the idea that the Second Amendment of the U.S. Constitution guarantees the right of Americans to own guns. Americans may also be moving toward more libertarian views in some areas,” Gallup reported in October, 2011.

“What’s interesting here is Americans are shifting to a more pro-gun stance despite high profile incidents of gun violence – like the Arizona shooting of Rep. Gabrielle Giffords and 18 others,” CNNreported.

Despite the government and establishment media mantra declaring Americans have a right to own firearms for self-protection and hunting, a Rasmussen Reports poll conducted in January of this year after Sandy Hook showed a majority of Americans believe the Second Amendment was established as a protection against tyranny.

“Seventy-four percent (74%) of all Americans continue to believe that the U.S. Constitution guarantees the right of an average citizen to own a gun. Just 17% disagree. These views haven’t changed in nearly four years of surveying,” the polling outfit reported.

AIPAC Confab Signals Iran Endgame

Source: Kurt Nimmo

Last month’s hope of a constructive outcome during nuclear talks between Iran and the West in Kazakhstan were dashed this week as the AIPAC meeting commenced in Washington.

2013 AIPAC confab dwells on Iran attack.

On Monday, Joe Biden made it clear that Obama is behind an attack on Iran. He told attendees Obama’s policy “is to prevent Iran from acquiring a nuclear weapon. Period. Period. End of discussion.”

“We have to stop Iran’s nuclear enrichment program before it’s too late,” Israeli Prime MinisterBenjamin Netanyahu said via satellite. “Words alone will not stop Iran. Sanctions alone will not stop Iran. Sanctions must be coupled with a clear and credible military threat if sanctions fail.”

Arizona Senator John McCain, who chanted “Bomb, bomb, bomb, bomb Iran” during a campaign stop in 2007, gave a harsh critique of Obama’s foreign policy during AIPAC’s Monday’s Foreign Policy Roundtable. “[The Iranians] must understand that there is no space between the United States and Israel,” McCain said. “They believe in Tehran right now that there is space between the United States and Israel … We need members of the National Security team who are pro-Israel, not anti-Israel.”

Obama’s top adviser on Iran in the National Security Council, the globalist Dennis Ross, who is a member of both the CFR and the Trilateral Commission, said the P5+1 negotiation strategy that showed promise has failed. “It’s time to go to an endgame,” Ross said Sunday. The “Iranians have been playing the rope-a-dope strategy,” he added. “If you’re denying an excuse [for refusing an agreement], and the Iranians don’t respond, then maybe the position of the P5+1 has to be […] alright, we are beginning to lose patience.”

The Bush era neocon ideologue and senior fellow for Middle East studies at the Council on Foreign Relations, Elliott Abrams, was less sanguine. “I worry about what I see in the papers,” said George W. Bush’s former deputy national security adviser. “It appears to me we are negotiating with ourselves. We see no concessions with Iran.” Abrams said “the goal of sanctions is to prevent them from getting closer to a nuclear weapons capability, and we are failing to do that.”

Congress has also inched closer to a military confrontation with Iran. South Carolina Republican senator Lindsey Graham has sponsored a resolution calling for rejecting “containment” of Iran in favor of the often cited “military option” under the guise of protecting Israel. Overwhelming majorities in both chambers support the resolution. “The Congress is ready to do what is necessary to support military intervention if sanctions don’t work,” Graham said.

“I think it is the challenge of our time. We are really going to be defined by Iran’s quest for a nuclear weapon,” Graham told his colleagues. “If we hit Iran, we open Pandora’s box. If they get a nuclear weapon, we empty Pandora’s box,” he explained. “We win, they lose.” He also said that Iran’s nuclear program would not be the only target. If the United States attacks, “you are not just going to hit one mountain. You’d try to take down the country’s defense system.”

The chorus call for an attack on Iran will likely reach a crescendo in April when Obama treks to Israel and meets with Netanyahu. “They want to have a better understanding,” Dennis Ross said, “of when does prevention as objective fail, and force become inevitable.”

Obama DHS Purchases 2,700 Light-Armored Tanks to Go With Their 1.6 Billion Bullet Stockpile

This is getting a little creepy.
According to one estimate, since last year the Department of Homeland Security has stockpiled more than 1.6 billion bullets, mainly .40 caliber and 9mm.

DHS also purchased 2,700 Mine Resistant Armor Protected Vehicles (MRAP).

Modern Survival Blog reported:

The Department of Homeland Security (through the U.S. Army Forces Command) recently retrofitted 2,717 of these ‘Mine Resistant Protected’ vehicles for service on the streets of the United States.

Although I’ve seen and read several online blurbs about this vehicle of late, I decided to dig slightly deeper and discover more about the vehicle itself.

The new DHS sanctioned ‘Street Sweeper’ (my own slang due to the gun ports) is built by Navistar Defense (NavistarDefense.com), a division within the Navistar organization. Under the Navistar umbrella are several other companies including International Trucks, IC Bus (they make school buses), Monaco RV (recreational vehicles), WorkHorse (they make chassis), MaxxForce (diesel engines), and Navistar Financial (the money arm of the company).

DHS even released a video on their newly purchased MRAPs.
Via Pat Dollard:

The MRAP featured in this video is was in Albuquerque, New Mexico for Law Enforcement Day which was held at a local area Target Store. This MRAP is stationed in El Paso, Texas at The Homeland Security Investigations Office. MRAP is a Mine Resistant Armor Protected Vehicle.

Retired General Tells Biden: Military Can Help With Gun Control Agenda

Feinstein again promises to “press the case” for disarming Americans

Source: Steve Watson

Ahead of a Senate hearing on gun control today, Vice President Joe Biden met with retired military officials to thrash out a strategy to win over public approval for the implementation of strict anti-gun measures.

Retired general Stephen Xenakis told The Hill that he suggested to Biden that members of the military could help the White House move forward with its gun control agenda.

“The vice president understands that when it comes to communicating with credibility on guns, the two groups with the most credibility are law enforcement and military officials,” he said. “We have experience with both having weapons and using them responsibly, so we can get that message out.”

Xenakis said that military officials would be on hand to pitch gun control talking points to the public.

“He has a plan and he’s working with leaders in Congress to get it done.” Xenakis said of the Vice President.

Xenakis also appeared in a new “Demand a Plan” gun control advocating commercial this week, featuring several other retired army generals, put out by the Mayors Against Illegal Guns group, fronted by New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg.

Anti-second amendment lawmakers are scheduled to make their arguments in today’s hearing before the Senate Judiciary Hearing. The Washington Times reports that those testifying will include, U.S. Attorney for Colorado John Walsh, Milwaukee Police Chief Ed Flynn, and Philadelphia Mayor Michael Nutter.

Meanwhile, Sen. Dianne Feinstein (D-Calif.) has once again vowed to push for strict gun control until it “gets done”.

Arguing that a total ban on semi-automatic rifles is entirely constitutional, Feinstein referred to “assault weapons” as “personal pleasures” during an MSNBC appearance.

“We will make the case that these weapons do not belong on the streets of our cities,” Feinstein said. “I recognize it’s an uphill battle. But I also know that these events are going to continue and America has to step up. The mothers, the women, the men of America have to make a decision as to whether their personal pleasure is more important than the general welfare.”

“Grievance killers look for these weapons. These weapons are easy to obtain. There are nobackground checks. You can buy them out of a back of a car, at a gun show. America’s laws are virtually nonexistent and, therefore, I think this is a good bill,” she said.

“I intend to fight. I did it once before. If it doesn’t get done right now, be assured I will continue to press the case.”

Watch the interview below:

In related news, Republican Rep. Steve Stockman has vowed to further investigate allegations that the Obama administration has been employing “spambots” to send out fake twitter messages and emails to members of Congress to make it appear that there is a ground swell of support for gun control legislation.

The messages have been linked to former Obama digital strategist Brad Schenck. The tweets were mostly sent from newly created accounts, and included the #WeDemandAVote hashtag — which Obama encouraged supporters to use.

“Obama’s anti-gun campaign is a fraud,” Rep. Stockman said Monday.

Homeland Security has advice for confronting mass murders: scissors (LMAO!!)

WASHINGTON — Is your workplace getting shot up by a crazed gunman?

No problem — just grab a pair of scissors and fight back!

That’s some of the helpful advice in a new instructional video from the Department of Homeland Security that was posted on the agency’s Web site just a month after the massacre at Sandy Hook Elementary School in Connecticut.

“If you are caught out in the open and cannot conceal yourself or take cover, you might consider trying to overpower the shooter with whatever means are available,” says the narrator in the video, which shows an office worker pulling scissors out of a desk drawer.

DUCK AND CUTTER: A Homeland Security video shows these scenes as helpful advice to workers on what to do if a mass killer strikes their office — grab any weapon at hand, and hide under a desk.

DUCK AND CUTTER: A Homeland Security video shows these scenes as helpful advice to workers on what to do if a mass killer strikes their office — grab any weapon at hand, and hide under a desk.

The video, titled “Options for Consideration,” also advises that people who get caught in an “active shooter” situation should run away, hide under a desk or take cover out of the line of fire.

The nearly four-minute-long video opens with chilling scenes from the 2007 Virginia Tech massacre, the 2009 mass shooting at Fort Hood in Texas, and the 2011 attempted assassination of Gabrielle Giffords.

But the video quickly shifts to hokey footage of office workers scampering under desks, crouching in corners and racing into closets to hide from a rampaging gunman on the loose.

“To protect your hiding place, lock the door if you can. Block the door with heavy furniture,” recommends the male narrator, speaking in measured, authoritative tones.

Other survival strategies promoted in the video include hiding “behind large items such as cabinets or desks. Remain quiet. Silence your cellphone or pager. Even the vibration setting can give away a hiding position.”

Richard Feldman, president of the Independent Firearm Owners Association, said he has a better option for consideration than a pair of scissors when confronting an armed mass murderer — a legal firearm.

“That’s why I prefer a gun, and I usually do carry a gun when it is lawful to do so,” said Feldman. “Clearly, you use whatever you can” to fight for your life, he said.

So if scissors are all you’ve got, grab them by all means.

The video is part of the Obama administration’s ongoing campaign to reduce firearm violence in the wake of the horrific mass murder last month of 20 children and six teachers in Newtown, Conn., said a Homeland Security official.

Homeland Security has operated an active-shooter preparedness-training program for years, and the “Options for Consideration” video was in production prior to the Dec. 14 shooting in Newtown.

The video was released to coincide with President Obama’s sweeping proposals to curb gun violence in America, said the official.

Obama’s most controversial proposals include a ban on military-style assault rifles and high-capacity ammo clips, as well as expanded background checks for firearm purchases.

Security consultant Andrew Scott called the information in the video “adequate.”

He conceded that Homeland Security was correct in recommending that people use scissors to attack a gunman but only in a “last, worst-case scenario.”

“Just the suggestion [to fight back] is a positive move,” said Scott, a former SWAT commander in North Miami Beach. “You don’t want to be sheep for the slaughter.”

But if you do arm yourself with shears, the narrator warns you to drop them when cops arrive.

“Put down any items. Immediately raise your hands,” is the closing advice.

The War On Terror Spreads to Africa: U.S. Sending Troops to 35 African Nations

Source: Washington’s Blog

The U.S. is sending troops to 35 African nations under the guise of fighting Al Qaeda and related terrorists.

Democracy Now notes:

U.S. Army teams will be deploying to as many as 35 African countries early next year for training programs and other operations as part of an increased Pentagon role in Africa. The move would see small teams of U.S. troops dispatched to countries with groups allegedly linked to al-Qaeda, such as Libya, Sudan, Algeria and Niger. The teams are from a U.S. brigade that has the capability to use drones for military operations in Africa if granted permission. The deployment could also potentially lay the groundwork for future U.S. military intervention in Africa.

NPR reports:

[A special American brigade] will be able to take part in nearly 100 separate training and military exercises next year, in nearly three dozen African countries

Glenn Ford writes:

The 2nd Brigade is scheduled to hold more than 100 military exercises in 35 countries, most of which have no al-Qaida presence. So, although there is no doubt that the U.S. will be deeply involved in the impending military operation in Mali, the 2nd Brigade’s deployment is a much larger assignment, aimed at making all of Africa a theater of U.S. military operations. The situation in Mali is simply a convenient, after-the-fact rationale for a long-planned expansion of the U.S. military footprint in Africa.

Timothy Alexander Guzman argues:

AFRICOM’s [the U.S. military's Africa command] goal is to eliminate China and other countries influence in the region.  Africa’s natural resources is another important element to consider because it includes oil, diamonds, copper, gold, iron, cobalt, uranium, bauxite, silver, petroleum, certain woods and tropical fruits.

In a must-watch interview, Dan Collins of the China Money Report agrees that the purpose of the deployment is to challenge China’s rising prominence in Africa:

In reality – as we’ve repeatedly noted – the U.S. sends in the military to fight “terrorists” in any country which has resources we want (and see this).

And the U.S. is not shy about backing our “mortal enemies” to topple those standing between us and resources we pine for.

Anthony Carlucci argues that the overthrow of Gaddafi (largely through American support of terrorists) was really the opening salvo in the war for African resources:

Ron Paul: Guns Are Americans’ “Line in the Sand”

Former Congressman warns Obama’s executive gun grab could spark second American revolution

Source: Paul Joseph Watson

The Obama administration’s effort to pass a draconian gun ban via executive order could cause a second American revolution, former Congressman Ron Paul told the Alex Jones Show.

Paul’s appearance coincided with comments by Vice President Joe Biden that Barack Obama is likely to turn to executive orders as an end run around the second amendment.

“There are executive orders, there’s executive action that can be taken. We haven’t decided what that is yet. But we’re compiling it all with the help of the attorney general and the rest of the cabinet members as well as legislative action that we believe is required,” said Biden.

Paul said that the recent Sandy Hook school shootings presented the Obama administration with an “opportunity” to “get rid of the guns” and eliminate the ability of Americans to use firearms as a form of resistance to government tyranny, as is prescribed in the Constitution.

The former Congressman challenged those calling for Americans to be disarmed in the name of protecting children. “If the government kills children it’s OK….How many of them are shouting and screaming about the children our drones are killing on a daily basis?,” asked Paul.

Paul is referring to the fact that Barack Obama has overseen a drone strike policy that has killed at least 168 children in Pakistan alone – over eight times the number killed by Sandy Hook gunman Adam Lanza. A staggering 98% of the victims of Obama’s drone strike policy have been innocent civilians.

“Compared to the violence that the government has perpetuated on the people compared to what the people do to each other, there’s no contest,” said Paul, referring to the fact that democide, or death by government, has killed hundreds of million of non-military civilians in the last 100 years alone.

Calling the announcement by Biden that Obama may attempt to ban guns via executive order a “dictatorial move,” Paul said it was a “dangerous” step that was centered around putting more power into the presidency.

“I don’t think the American people will (turn in their guns),” said Paul, describing such a scenario as a “line in the sand.”

“If a federal agent marches in unannounced and they say give me your gun and give me your gold, I don’t think we’ll do that calmly, I think the American people will highly resent it and resist,” said Paul, agreeing that a widespread gun confiscation effort could lead to a re-run of 1776.
