As ISIS continues to grow stronger, it has begun to expand its presence into more countries. Its latest expansion location is in the city state of Singapore, located in the center of South East Asia. Singapore, one of the original “Asian Tigers”-or economic giants, has recently suffered an attack by the terrorist group.

But guess which country came to the rescue? It was none other than Indonesia and it’s security forces. According to an article on Breitbart.com, Indonesia’s “counter terrorism police” have prevented ISIS from launching missiles from Indonesia’s Batam island into downtown Singapore.

According to Singapore’s National Police Spokesman, Major General Boy Rafli Amar,  the ISIS-Jihadists’ had planned for the rockets to strike one of Singapore’s busiest seaside tourist districts, Marina Bay, the location of one of “Asia’s biggest casinos.”

In a press conference, Amar said “Yes, indeed there were indeed plans for the attack. But the plans did not materialize.”

6 terrorists have been suspected of plotting the attack. They are between 19 and 46 years old and “allegedly belong to the ISIS-affiliated Islamic terrorist group, Katibah Gigih Rahmat, (KGR)”, a group which has allowed Indonesian terrorists to travel to Syria and train with ISIS.

One of the six terrorists was the leader of KGR, a 31 year old man named Gigh Rahmat Dewa. In planning to launch rockets against Singapore, the terrorist group has allegedly received payment from an Indonesian ISIS affiliate Barun Naim, an Indonesian terrorist who has fighting with ISIS in Syria.

The six terror suspects were arrested throughout the island of Batam by Indonesian security forces.

Singaporean authorities, meanwhile, have expressed doubts about whether “home made rockets” could travel 15 miles, the distance between Batam and Singapore, and said that if they could, they would have to be more “advanced than the homemade Qasam rockets that Palestinian militants have fired to Israel.”

There is some speculation regarding the exact type of rockets that were about to be fired by the terrorists. Some claim they could have been the Grad missile, with a range of 20km or the WS-1, a Iranian/Chinese missile with a 45 km range.

Since the planned attack, Singapore has been increasing the presence of its security forces throughout the city. According to a Ministry of Homeland Affairs spokesperson,

In response to this threat and the prevailing security situation Police and other agencies have been stepping up inland and border security measures. Our security agencies have been coordinating closely with the Indonesian authorities since the discovery of this attack plot, to monitor the activities of the group and to apprehend those involved. We are grateful for the good co-operation by the Indonesian authorities and their actions to apprehend the group.”
