There are just three things the federal government owes us, Bill O’Reilly argued in his “Talking Points Memo” segment on Fox News Channel Thursday.
O’Reilly outlined “the three major expectations that the government should meet under the Constitutional banner of ‘Pursuit of Happiness’”:
- “We’re entitled to have an effective defense against people who would kill us.”
- “Americans are entitled to an affordable medical system that can alleviate their suffering.”
- “All American adults should have fair access to the free marketplace.”
“That’s it: that’s what we are owed,” O’Reilly concluded, dismissing the entitlement claims of “the Bernie Sanders philosophy”:
“The Bernie Sanders philosophy that everybody should be guaranteed a job at a set wage and shepherded through life is not what America is all about.”
