President Trump will not glorify Cinco de Mayo. Previous administrations hosted lavish White House parties to celebrate the Mexican holiday. Trump, however, refuses to propitiate the left. Liberals are furious that the annual celebration has been downsized.

This year Cinco de Mayo celebrations in Washington will be hosted by Vice President Pence in an undisclosed location. The guest list has also been reduced. Former President Obama hosted over 500 people for 2016’s party.

The Democrats are eager to soak up Hispanics votes. They promote a strongly pro-immigration platform; some go so far as to advocate for open borders. They’re notoriously soft on illegal immigration. Obama effectively castrated the Border Patrol, forcing the overworked agents to releases thousands of illegals.

Interestingly Hispanic support for Trump has surged dramatically since his inauguration. Hispanics approve of the president in greater numbers than other ethnic groups. According to Breitbart, a “stunning new poll shows that Hispanic support for President Donald Trump has grown to 45 percent since his election.”

Trump’s America-first agenda resonates with countless people. The reason illegal immigrants attempt to live in the states is because they believe they’ll have a better, or easier, life in America. American excellence is known the world over. Trump’s policies are going to make life better for U.S. citizens.

Hispanics may not care much about Trump’s Cinco de Mayo plans but Democrats sure do. Multiple talking heads and social media influencers expressed shock that the administration would abandon a “16-year tradition” and tried to impute a racial motive to the president’s actions.

“The decision of the White House to renounce the celebration of Cinco de Mayo is another slap for many Mexican Americans and Latinos,” Félix Sánchez, president and co-founder of the National Hispanic Foundation for the Arts (NHFA), told LA Opinion, a Spanish-language newspaper. “Instead of embracing our nation’s multicultural heritage, we are deepening divisions, not seeking common ground.”

Yet, it’s hard to say that the government is deepening divisions by hosting a party with the vice president. Pence may not have Trump’s star-power but his presence at an event is almost as much of an honor. Cinco de Mayo, which isn’t an American holiday, is being officially recognized by Washington. It’s not a snub if the president has something other to do than attending a party.

The Cinco de Mayo parties that are being canceled are those hosted by illegal immigrants who are afraid of being deported. Philadelphia canceled plans for its largest Cinco de Mayo party for precisely that reason.

“The group of six organizers decided to cancel unanimously,” Edgar Ramirez, one of the party organizers, told a local NBC affiliate. “Everyone is offended by the actions of ICE. They did not feel comfortable holding the event.”

Ramirez intended his comments to be a criticism, but many Americans might instead feel like it’s a good thing if illegals are no longer comfortable with their status. Obama allowed illegals to gather and protest without risk. Scores of undocumented migrants penned sob stories with titles like “My Life as an Undocumented Immigrant,” knowing that they wouldn’t be deported.

Law-abiding Americans no longer have to wonder why Washington seems to have so little respect for the nation’s laws. Trump and his associates don’t depend on illegals and their families for votes. Trump is capable of making tough decisions that will ultimately benefit America.

“Whether you lean left, right, or you’re in the middle you have to be a fan of what he’s done for the border patrol, for the border security. He’s done more in first 100 days than the last two administrations have done in 16 years,” Brandon Judd, Border Patrol Union President and active border patrol agent, told FOX Business Network.

“President Trump promised the American public that he was going to secure the border, and part of securing the border is putting in place the proper technology and resources that allows us to be successful and a border wall in strategic locations is one of those things we must get done.”

The Trump administration prioritizes American interests, not those of migrants.
