This is Kellyanne Conway’s ominous warning to pot-stirring White House staff leakers

Kellyanne Conway on Thursday issued an ominous warning to White House staff who attempt to defame other members of the Trump administration in the press, and warned that “leakers are easier to figure out than they think.”

Speaking with Fox & Friends about the controversy surrounding White House Communications Director Anthony Scaramucci and White House Chief of Staff Reince Priebus, Conway said, “There are leaks and there are people using the press to shiv each other in the ribs.”

Scaramucci said on Thursday that he and Priebus are like “brothers” — but the example Scaramucci gave didn’t do much to squelch widespread reporting of intense administration infighting.

He made the ominous comparison on CNN’s “New Day,” just hours after he seemingly accused Priebus on Twitter of a “felony,” and then later deleted the tweet. The tweet led many to believe that Scaramucci blamed Priebus for “leaking” his publicly available financial disclosures.

“In light of the leak of my financial disclosure info which is a felony. I will be contacting @FBI and @TheJusticeDept,” Scaramucci tweeted.

Scaramucci later deleted the tweet, and issued a separate tweet in which he attempted to clarify what he meant.

“Tweet was public notice to leakers that all Sr Adm officials are helping to end illegal leaks,” the new White House communications director wrote.

On Fox & Friends, Conway didn’t reveal who she thought was reportedly leaking White House information to the press, but asserted that the source was someone who was displeased with Scaramucci’s appointment and who was intent on damaging the WH Communications Director’s reputation.

“Somebody is trying to get in his way and scare him off from working [at the White House] which is a huge mistake,” she added, complaining that the squabbling between White House officials is a “complete disservice” to President Donald Trump, his agenda and the administration at large.

Conway continued, “We just have to cut down on people thinking it’s cute, and it makes them popular and it somehow enhances their resume and their portfolio for later on to curry favor with folks who are more interested in covering the style and not the substance here.”

“Leakers are easier to figure out than they think,” she warned. “The West Wing is a small place.”
