Democrats in the state of California are doing something crazy. According to reports, they are pushing a bill that would change the election rules so that they go in their favor. State Sen. Josh Newman (D-Fullerton) is the one that is set to benefit from it.
What they want to do is stop the Republicans from kicking out their two-thirds majority edge in the Senate. That way, the Democrats can continue pushing laws that wouldn’t require GOP support.
What they are planning to do would uphold SB 96’s provision that would add months to recall qualification. The end game is to have a recall election that would occur in June of 2018, when more people would come up to support the Democrats.
All in all, they want to make sure their majority holds up. This is low, even by Democratic standards.
