LEBANON, N.H. (WCAX) There is an active shooter investigation at the Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center in Lebanon, New Hampshire.
A spokesman for the hospital tells WCAX News there is an incident and police and officers are responding.
We are hearing from inside the hospital and from Dartmouth College officials that parts of the hospital are on lockdown and some rooms are barricaded. Some people have been evacuated.
An employee at the hospital tells us an alert went out over computer monitors, saying there is an active shooter on ICU-4 Main Campus, lock and barricade yourself in secure locations until further notice. Another worker told WCAX News that all workers received an email from the hospital about a “code silver,” telling them to get out if possible and otherwise to shelter in place.
Police want everyone to avoid the area.
We have no information about any casualties from police. We have crews en route and will update you as soon as we have more information.
Vermont State Police say they are assisting New Hampshire law enforcement with the incident but they released no details.
We have reports from witnesses that traffic is stopped on Route 120.
Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center is New Hampshire’s largest hospital. Forty percent of its patients are from Vermont.
