Far from getting to a near end, the Russian investigation led by Special Counsel Robert Mueller seems to be getting wider, to the point where it’s reaching certain issues that don’t have any connection with the possibility of collusion with the Russian interference in the election. According to officials familiar with the matter, Mueller recently sent the White House a flurry of documentation requests, asking for information about President Trump’s dismissal of James Comey and Michael Flynn, leading many to claim that this investigation is more of a witch hunt than anything else.

Now, even though President Trump has been proven to be clean throughout this ordeal (despite the Obama Administration’s months-long spying adventures), Mueller has chosen to ignite the incredibly bogus Russian collusion narrative again, but this time he is dragging former FBI Director James Comey back into the argument.

The officials, speaking on condition of anonymity, said yesterday that the White House has been cooperating with these requests for the past several weeks. Although they assured this cooperation has been made in order to avoid subpoenas for individual testimony, legal analysts assured this is actually an efficient move in order to show total transparency in a very delicate case.

According to the officials, the exact date when the White House would finish turning over the documents remains unknown. Nevertheless, it is expected these could be completely delivered in short term.

As reported by the New York Times, Mueller’s request represents the clearest way of how the special counsel now wants to expand the Russian investigation to the possible obstruction of justice he believes Trump could have made by firing the former FBI Director.

Although it is known that Mueller was also investigating this case, it seems quite suspicious the fact that he’s increasing his focus on the matter in this moment instead of doing it at the beginning of the investigation. While some experts believe this could be just a way of making Trump feel uncomfortable in order to see his reaction, a spokesman for Mueller’s team declined to comment anything about this issue.

Several legal analysts including Alan Dershowitz have pointed there’s not a single evidence that suggests Trump could have committed some kind of obstruction of justice by firing James Comey. Nevertheless, the liberal mainstream media has been pushing this narrative since the day Trump decided to dismiss the former FBI Director.

Regarding the former national security adviser, Trump fired him back in February after it was revealed he lied to administration officials –including Vice President Mike Pence- about his conversations with then-Russian Ambassador Sergey Kislyak. This controversial meeting was prior to the inauguration.

Since that moment, Flynn’s financial connection to foreign governments has come under scrutiny by Mueller’s team and some congressional investigations into the Russian interference in the election and possible collusion with Trump’s team.

Mueller’s White House inquiries come after it was revealed that the Obama administration allowed the FBI to wiretap Trump’s former campaign chairman Paul Manafort. Although the procedure against him was completely legal, the colossal controversy is the fact that they could have definitely wiretapped the Trump Tower, confirming the brutal claim President Trump made back in January, receiving a lot of criticism by the Democrats and some members of the Republican Party.

The revelation about Manafort’s wiretap has created a political cataclysm in Washington, considering that when asked about this issue, Comey told Congress in late March that he never had any kind of information about that operation.

This was even worse for Former Director of National Intelligence – and regular contributor at CNN- James Clapper, who assured there was no such wiretap activity mounted against Trump as a President or as a candidate. In fact, he even said this was not made against anyone of his campaign, and denied that any such FISA order ever existed.

Of course, if Mueller’s investigation had the disturbing appearance of a political witch hunt, this situation represents a major setback to the intention of cleaning its image, which is a quite a difficult endeavor considering that most members of Mueller’s team are known for being Democratic donors.

Looking at the whole picture, it is pretty difficult to see Mueller’s investigation as nothing more than a Stalinist operation where the only intention is to find any crime in order harm the figure they’re investigating.

According to the Washington Post, a government official recently told that Mueller’s investigation won’t stop even if Trump decides to take the ultimate step and dismiss him. Apparently, everyone in the White House knows that the investigation will run to completion no matter what happens.

Regarding this issue, legal analysts assure that the worst case scenario would be that some individuals in Trump’s campaign could be prosecuted for colluding with the Russians, and the President will be clear.

However, the main goal of this political operation seems to be harming Trump’s image and give more time to the mainstream media to keep pushing their narrative until there’s an outcome.
