Regular news readers will recall vividly how former Secretary of State John Kerry promised that we could trust Iran. He even boasted that this deal that he and the Obama White House worked out with the vile Islamic regime would lead to better monitoring and safety for all. Unfortunately for Mr. Kerry and everyone affiliated with him, news from the Free Beacon today proves him dead wrong.
One of Iran’s top military commanders has “threatened to launch ballistic missile attacks on U.S. forces in the region amid a public effort by the Islamic Republic to show off its advanced missile capabilities,” according to U.S. officials. This was what minds like Obama and Clinton promised would not be the case.
It is said that leaders in Iran “disclosed that their advanced ballistic missile technology” can be used to further the development of nuclear weapons. This breaks the rules of the deal that President Trump is working so very hard to eliminate.
Data shows that Iran’s weapons are “sophisticated enough to strike U.S. forces up to nearly 1,300 miles,” a fact that puts every base in that region easily within the kingdom’s crosshairs.
The leader of Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps has proclaimed that their missiles can currently “cover all U.S. bases in the region” and that they have even stronger weapons at their disposal.
“Based on the policies specified by the Leader [Ayatollah Khamenei], the range of our missiles is limited to 2,000km, but we have the capability to increase the range,” said Iran’s Maj. Gen. Mohammad Ali Jafari. Does this sound like a country that we want having nuclear fuel?
Some speak of putting a cap on Iran’s weapons growth but they already can strike all U.S. bases near them so it is a bit too late for that. “At present, it [this distance] is sufficient because the Americans are in a 2,000 km radius from our country and their attacks will be responded,” bragged Jafari.
Saeed Ghasseminejad, a man who the Beacon calls “an Iran expert” and research fellow at the Foundation for Defense of Democracies said, “The IRGC commander says at this time the current range is enough. He clarifies it by saying that there are enough Americans to target inside the 2000 km range that Iran does not need to go beyond it at this point.” This shows the peril that U.S. bases are in near Teran.
“Iran is working on its satellite program which is a cover to develop its ICBM program,” he adds. “So at the same time that Iran is developing its intercontinental ballistic missile, the head of the terrorist organization, the IRGC, assures the world that Iran has no plan to go beyond 2000 km range even though it has the technical capability. How gullible should one be to buy such assurance?”
Well, as at least as gullible as Mr. Kerry.
