(CNSNews.com) – The “real collusion and dishonesty” in the 2016 election happened in the Democrat primary, President Donald Trump tweeted Thursday night.
He was talking about revelations from Donna Brazile, the former interim chair of the Democratic National Committee, who confirmed that the Democrat primary was rigged in favor of Hillary Clinton.
“Where is our Justice Department?” Trump asked — and not for the first time. The president previously has been very vocal about his displeasure with Attorney General Jeff Sessions, who recused himself from the FBI’s Russia investigation.
Politico published an excerpt from Brazile’s new book on Thursday.
Brazile said President Barack Obama left the DNC $24 million in debt. DNC Chair Debbie Wasserman Schultz “was not a good manager,” and she let Clinton’s campaign headquarters control the DNC — before Clinton became her party’s nominee.
In fact, Clinton — before she won the nomination — had a fund-raising arrangement with the cash-strapped DNC that gave her control of the organization.
According to Brazile,”in exchange for raising money and investing in the DNC, Hillary would control the party’s finances, strategy, and all the money raised. Her campaign had the right of refusal of who would be the party communications director, and it would make final decisions on all the other staff. The DNC also was required to consult with the campaign about all other staffing, budgeting, data, analytics, and mailings.”
Brazile said the fund-raising agreement was “evidence of internal corruption” showing that the DNC was rigging the system to throw the primary to Hillary. Brazile calls it “unethical” but not illegal.
In his Thursday night tweets, Trump wrote: “Donna Brazile just stated the DNC RIGGED the system to illegally steal the Primary from Bernie Sanders. Bought and paid for by Crooked H. This is real collusion and dishonesty. Major violation of Campaign Finance Laws and Money Laundering – where is our Justice Department?”
Trump also tweeted about something he heard on Fox News Thursday night: “The @TuckerCarlson opening statement about our once cherished and great FBI was so sad to watch. James Comey’s leadership was a disaster!”
Tucker Carlson, in his opening monologue, questioned the overall competence of the FBI. He noted that for weeks, he’s been asking “basic questions” about the Las Vegas massacre, most of which remain unanswered.
“The people running this case don’t really know what they’re doing,” Carlson said.
He noted that the Las Vegas case “isn’t the only one that’s shaken public confidence lately.” Carlson talked about FBI surveillance of various terror suspects who nevertheless managed to pull off deadly attacks at the Pulse nightclub in Orlando, Florida; in Boston; and at Fort Hood.
There’s more, Carlson said: “The FBI famously investigated Hillary Clinton’s email server for more than a year during which time, for some reason, the bureau gave immunity to several top aides for no obvious reason and failed to tape-record key interviews. Why is that?” he asked.
“Speaking of emails, the FBI never examined the DNC’s email server after it was supposedly hacked. Instead they just accepted the claim of a private contractor employed by the Democratic Party that the hacking was the work of the Russian government.
“Why didn’t one of the bureau’s many tech teams conduct its own investigation of a matter this important and politically sensitive?”
Carlson also noted that in case after case, the FBI’s white collar division has leaked sensitive details of ongoing investigations to the press.
“How does behavior like that restore public confidence in the federal law enforcement?” Carlson asked. “It doesn’t, of course, and it shouldn’t.
“We have a right to be worried about the FBI. There is no more powerful agency in this country. They can read your email, they can root through your bank records, they can break down the front door of your house and arrest you in front of your children,” Carlson said.
“We need to be absolutely certain the FBI is worthy of the power we give them. What’s happening in Las Vegas right now is one of the many reasons to wonder if they are.”
