Sean Hannity goes off on Media Matters in all-caps tweet storm after they target his advertisers

Fox News host Sean Hannity went on an all-caps tweet storm Sunday morning against Media Matter for America president Angelo Carusone, just hours before Carusone was scheduled to appear on CNN’s “Reliable Sources,” hosted by Brian Stelter.

What did Hannity say?

The tweets were against Carusone, CNN and Stelter. Hannity indirectly called Carusone a racist, anti-semite, trans/gay homophobe and victim shamer before tweeting at CNN and Stelter asking why CNN allows someone like that on air.

Why did Hannity do it?

For starters, Media Matters, which is financed by billionaire liberal George Soros, targets the conservative media, namely Fox News, and positions themselves as a conservative media watchdog.

But Carusone and Hannity in particular have a history of bad blood, especially over the last several weeks. It all began when Hannity came under fire for allegedly defending Roy Moore on his Fox News show after the sexual misconduct allegations against Moore had just surfaced.

Hannity told his viewers: “Every single person in this country deserves the presumption of innocence. With the allegations against Judge Moore, none of us know the truth of what happened 38 years ago. The only people that would know are the people involved in this incident.”

In response to Hannity’s reaction to the Moore accusations, Carusone began tweeting at companies that sponsor Hannity, alleging that Hannity defends child molesters and “attacks women who speak out against sexual harassment.”

Then ensued a boycott of coffeemaker Keurig, which replied to one of Carusone’s tweets saying they would remove their advertisements from Hannity’s show. Keurig’s CEO later backtracked.

Media Matters also targeted Hannity’s advertisers in May for being an alleged conspiracy theorist and “professional propagandist for President Donald Trump.”

Carusone was appearing on “Reliable Sources” this morning to discuss the fiasco.

Did Stelter respond?

What about Carusone?

Not yet directly, though he retweeted people mocking Hannity’s tweet storm.
