After months of the liberal media treating the discredited Trump-Russia dossier as proof of collusion despite none of the claims being verified, the House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence now has access to all of the documents to validate them.
After months of slow-walking, the Department of Justice and FBI have finally handed over all of the records and documents they possess on the dossier.
On Friday, the committee reviewed all of the documents from the FBI and DOJ to better understand what elevated the dossier through the ranks at the bureau and triggered the investigation into unproven allegations that President Donald Trump colluded with Russia in the 2016 presidential election.
The dossier, which was partly funded by former Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton’s 2016 presidential campaign and the Democratic National Committee, was full of salacious claims and the FBI has admitted it cannot verify.
Clinton’s campaign and the DNC paid nearly $9 million for the discredited dossier, which raises questions about why top officials at the DOJ — like Ohr — were involved in promoting the dossier and using it to trigger the investigation into alleged Russia collusion.
The dossier was likely used, in part, by former President Barack Obama’s Justice Department and FBI to obtain a FISA warrant last year to spy on Trump and his former campaign members.
Committee members will also be able to view all witnesses and individuals associated with the dossier, which may indicate if Steele or Fusion GPS worked with the media to promote the collusion theories.
They are also trying to determine whether the Russian sources used by Steele in the dossier are credible, and whether were used by Obama holdovers to derail Trump’s presidency.
Last week, Republican chairman of the Senate Judiciary Committee Chuck Grassley and Sen. Lindsey Graham, R-S.C., wrote a letter to the DOJ requesting an investigation into whether Steele lied to federal authorities about key claims in the dossier.
This could be the biggest scandal in political history, and Republicans are ramping up efforts to expose the utterly groundless dossier.
