Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg is set to take a grilling on Capitol Hill this week after it was revealed the tech giant was encroaching on people’s privacy.
One Senator warned Facebook must shape up or it will be broken up.
Fox News reported:
With Mark Zuckerberg’s grilling on Capitol Hill looming this week, Oregon Sen. Ron Wyden warned Facebook that it must make major changes — or else.
“There are going to be people who are going to say Facebook ought to be broken up,” Wyden, a vocal digital privacy advocate, said at the TechFestNW conference in Oregon on Friday.
“There have been a number of proposals and ideas for doing it and I think unless [Zuckerberg] finds a way to honor the promise he made several years ago, he’s gonna have a law on his hands,” he said, reports TechCrunch.
Wyden said he would support such a law to break up the tech giant.
“I’m going to bring the hammer down on companies responsible for data breaches,” Wyden said, according to Willamette Week.
On March 27, Christopher Wylie, a Cambridge Analytica whistleblower told a committee of British MP’s Facebook has the ability to spy on you in your own home or place of work.
Facebook admits it scans links and pictures people send back and forth to each other on Facebook Messenger in order to ‘prevent abuse’.
Facebook also reads chats on Messenger when they’re flagged by users. Moderators make sure everything in chat ‘falls in line with Facebook’s rules’.
Fed up users are planning a 24 hour boycott of Facebook, Instagram and Whatsapp called ‘Faceblock.’
Google and Facebook have a duopoly on internet data and referral traffic. Both companies are crushing conservative content simply because it goes against their globalist agenda.
The tech giants must be broken up as they hold too much power and actively silence people based on their political beliefs.
