CNN’s political analyst Gloria Borger opined that the Democratic National Committee lawsuit alleging collusion between the Russian government, the Trump campaign and WikiLeaks is a “stunt” meant to help them raise more money.
Here’s what Borger said:
“Just you first, on this, how much of it do you think is just a stunt versus a pretty smart ploy for the court of public opinion.”
“A hundred percent stunt!” Borger laughed. “One hundred percent.”
“They want to keep in the act, obviously they want to keep the story moving,” she explained. “This is nothing new. Everyone has been, every Democrat, uhm, every political Democrat has been charging that the Trump campaign was in collusion with WikiLeaks, et cetera, et cetera.”
“We know the DNC was hacked,” she added, “we’ve been talking about this since the campaign and honestly, it’s just a way to raise money, and that’s what they’re trying to do.”
“They’re trying to raise money off of it,” Borger added. “By the way, the Democrats haven’t been having a lot of trouble raising money. They’re raising gobs of money for their candidates, this time around.”
“But I think this is just one more way to get into the act here and continue what they’ve been doing all along,” she concluded.
Here’s the video of Borger’s comments:
On Friday WikiLeaks tweeted that they would be seeking to countersue the DNC, while President Trump posted a similar message in anticipation of seeking information from the Democrats through the discovery phase of the lawsuit.
