Though you wouldn’t know it, parents across the Western world today are participating in countrywide protests against pornographic sex education in schools under the hashtag #SexEdSitOut.

According to LifeNews, “The SexEd Sit Out began with a group of concerned mothers on social media and grew into an international protest, with families in America, Canada, Australia and the United Kingdom participating.”

Many of the parents keeping their kids from class on Monday said they were protesting “the graphic nature of sex education” in many public schools. Abortion conglomerate Planned Parenthood pushes many of these pornographic education measures, which sometimes go as far as to instruct kids on masturbation and oral sex. In a statement, Caryl Ayala, organizer of the Austin, Texas protest, said parents are simply reclaiming their parental rights.

“We are uniting with parents across the globe to demand that our rights as parents be respected regarding the teaching of sexuality and sexual orientation,” Ayala said. “Hands off our kids!”

Ayala pointed at the program, “Draw the Line, Respect the Line,” in the San Antonio area as an example of a sex-ed program that undercuts parental authority while having no impact on reducing the sexually risky behaviors of middle school girls.

Protesters also sent letters to their children’s principals to explain their outrage. One such letter read: “Pornographic sex ed is being implemented across our globe in an attempt to indoctrinate our children with ‘sexual rights.’ This is unacceptable and [I am] joining others both nationally and globally in taking a stand to say ‘enough!’”

Elizabeth Johnston a.k.a. “The Activist Mommy,” one of the leaders behind today’s protest, said the evidence shows that pornographic sex-ed makes the problem worse, and parents are disgusted.

“A few of us moms were disgusted by the evidence we were seeing on social media of graphic sex ed in the schools and the stories about gender transition parties and teaching kids to question their gender,” Johnston said. “So we decided to stop griping about it and actually do something about it.”

In the United States, protests will be taking place in Charlotte, North Carolina; Austin and San Antonio, Texas; Spokane, Washington; Garden Grove and Sacramento, California; Evansville, Bloomington, and Indianapolis, Indiana; Decorah, Iowa; and Martinsburg, West Virginia.

As to the nature of these sex-ed programs the parents are protesting, LifeNews has more:

Recently, parents in Rocklin, California and Farifax County, Virginia have expressed concerns after discovering ‘gender-bending’ and ‘graphic sex education’ programs being taught to children as young as age 5, protest organizers noted.

LifeNews has reported similar concerns in other communities. In March, parents of Monrovia, California middle school students expressed concern after learning that the abortion chain Planned Parenthood was invited to a student health fair without their knowledge.

Similarly, in February, a North Carolina school board voted to cancel a Planned Parenthood sex education program for its middle school students after many parents raised concerns.

Last August, a Pennsylvania school district also rejected a plan to put a Planned Parenthood-run facility inside Reading High School after massive public protests.

LifeNews recently discovered pro-abortion biases in a bestselling American government textbook as well.

A CBS News report noted that Planned Parenthood’s curriculum “encourages sixth graders to feel ‘comfortable and ready’ for sex. The petition says the curriculum provides flash cards outlining proper condom usage, for ‘vaginal, oral or anal sex’ and recommends the usage of ‘non-microwavable saran wrap’ as a prophylactic for certain non-reproductive sex acts.”
