An Arlington, Tennessee, woman fended off a would-be rapist — who happened to be her son’s friend — using a pistol she kept in her bedroom.

What are the details?

The unnamed mother went to bed on Sunday night when she heard a knock at her door in the wee hours of the morning.

When she got out of bed to open her door, she was confronted by her son’s 18-year-old friend Jordan Corter, who was sleeping over at the family’s home that evening.

Corter reportedly barged into the woman’s room, according to WHBQ-TV, and according to a police affidavit, forced the woman onto her bed, and shoved his hands into her pajama bottoms.

The woman fought back and struck Corter in the groin with her knee, but what apparently scared Corter off altogether was her trusty pistol.

According to the station, the woman grabbed her pistol after striking him and pointed it at his head, demanding that he leave.

The woman did not contact police on Sunday, according to a report in the Lexington Herald Leader, but waited until Monday to do so after she confided the incident to her work supervisor.

Police are charging Corter with sexual battery and criminal attempt rape, according to WHBQ. Corter’s bond was set at $30,000.

Anything else?

WREG-TV reported that authorities arrested Corter at his home on Monday, where he cried and said that what he had done was unforgivable.

The station reported that Corter told police that he “forced the victim to do the things she didn’t want to do.”

Corter’s step-grandfather told WREG that his step-grandson is a “good kid” who “just graduated high school.”

The Shelby County, Tennessee sheriff’s office shared the story on Facebook, and wrote, “Know who you invite into your home.”
