There are four names being mentioned as the next in line.
Broward County, Florida, confirmed that County Sheriff Scott Israel is to be “removed” from his post next week, according to Big League Politics. “Criminal activity” was cited by the AG as the community remains in a state of shock.
It is these “criminal issues” that are leading to Israel’s removal, “not malfeasance, following an investigation conducted by the office of Florida Governor Rick Scott.” To make matters worse, the lawman is being investigated by the I.R.S., as well, though this is not terribly unusual in such cases.
FBI director Christopher Wray would answer no questions about a replacement or the Parkland shooting since all of that is still under investigation. Wray is already in hot water after Governor Scott wanted him fired nor failing to stop Nicolas Cruz, the man who brought needless death on Valentine’s Day.
“We constantly promote ‘see something, say something,’ and a courageous person did just that to the FBI. And the FBI failed to act. ‘See something, say something’ is an incredibly important tool and people must have confidence in the follow through from law enforcement. The FBI Director needs to resign,” Scott had opined.
It does seem that when a law-abiding citizen has a few guns, there is no shortage of people asking questions, yet when someone like Cruz shows every sign imaginable, nothing is done.
A “criminal matter” that the F.B.I. knows of is the reason for the dismissal of Israel. Contrary to what may be assumed, while the Parkland shooting investigation exposed the crimes leading to his firing, it is not the reason. Sadly for the sheriff, the tragedy revealed his secrets.
The sheriff knows of his impending fate and a source has said that this “mouthpiece for Democratic politicians and gun control advocates, like Hillary Clinton and Debbie Wasserman Schultz” is also aware of how unpopular he is after dropping the ball on Cruz.
Beyond that, it became known that Israel’s son, Brett, assaulted a 14-year-old boy and bullied him. This matters, since bullying is what Cruz had said caused him to snap and start slaughtering innocents.
It is clear that both his staff and the F.B.I. messed up in grandiose ways, yet when confronted, Israel became angered and blurted out, “the only person accountable for this killing is the detestable, cowardly, murderer. He is solely responsible for this horrific act.” Since he has been a big Democrat friend, aiming to ban guns, this was quite a statement.
When the interviewer asked him about his ties to gun control and blaming the gun (as those that he supports does), he said rudely, “Ma’am, this interview is over” and walked away.
At the end of the day, the trust and respect of the people walked away, too, and his career is over. Now, the troubled county must hope that the changing of the guard brings about a more capable workforce.
