President Trump has today threatened to close the US border with Mexico permanently if the migrant caravan is not deported.

US Border Patrol shot tear gas and rubber bullets at a group of migrants, including toddlers, as members of the caravan tried to storm the border today.

The tensions prompted US officials to close the crossing between Tijuana and San Diego, stopping thousands of people travelling legitimately between the US and Mexico.

As tensions heightened, Trump took to Twitter to call for Mexico to deport the migrants or the US would shut the border permanently.

The president demanded Mexico sent the migrants back to their home countries, as he reiterated his previous comments that many of the people in the caravan are ‘stone cold criminals’.

He also called for Congress to fund his border wall with Mexico and reiterate the caravan was ‘not coming into the USA’.

Trump tweeted this morning: ‘Mexico should move the flag waving Migrants, many of whom are stone cold criminals, back to their countries. Do it by plane, do it by bus, do it anyway you want, but they are NOT coming into the U.S.A. We will close the Border permanently if need be. Congress, fund the WALL!’

Children were screaming and coughing in the mayhem at the San Ysidro Port of Entry when American today as agents tried to push the surging Central Americans back.
