(CNSNews.com) – Rep. Rashida Tlaib (D.-Mich.), the newly elected congresswoman who gained significant publicity for declaring President Donald Trump as “mother*****,’ observed on Sunday that “Congress will never be the same” now that she is in it.
Tlaib tweeted this observation in reaction to a photo essay the Detroit Metro Times published on her trip to Washington, D.C., to be sworn in as a new member of the U.S. House of Representatives.
The Detroit Metro Times article is headlined: “Photo essay: Rashida Tlaib goes to Washington.”
“On Thursday, Jan. 3, U.S. Rep. Rashida Tlaib of Detroit made history — and it wasn’t just because of those colorful and now-famous words she had for President Donald Trump on her first day,” said the Detroit Metro Times. “The swearing-in ceremony for the 116th U.S. Congress was a moment of many firsts, ushering in the most diverse Congress in U.S. history.”
“Tlaib was one of the first two Muslim women ever elected to Congress, along with Ilhan Omar of Minnesota; other historic firsts included Deb Haaland of New Mexico and Sharice Davids of Kansas elected as Congress’ first two Native American women, Kyrsten Sinema as the first U.S. senator to identify as bisexual, and Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez as the youngest woman ever elected to Congress at 29,” said the publication.
In the Tweet sent out Sunday, which featured the cover of the Metro Times, Tlaib said: “You captured this journey so beautifully. Thank you! Congress will never be the same.”
