Nancy Pelosi tried to curtail President Trump’s State of the Union address, claiming the Secret Service and DHS were ‘hamstrung,’ but a number of officials have asserted that Pelosi never contacted them, and there is no problem with security.

In what appears to be an attempt to silence the president’s State of the Union address using lies, Nancy Pelosi asked for a postponement, claiming security concerns.

However, the Secret Service was never contacted by Pelosi’s office, or any other democrat, about their ability to protect the president or members of congress.

Senior officials at the Department of Homeland Security explained that Pelosi made the decision to send the letter without any proof whatsoever. The move shows “disgusting” democrat desperation, according to Thomas Homan.

On Fox and Friends, he was asked, “Tom, what do you make of Nancy Pelosi asking the president, ‘Hey, put on hold the State of the Union because of security.’ [But] the Department of Homeland Security came out and said, ‘We’re ready,’” by co-host Steve Doocy. “You used to be in that department. What do you say to Nancy Pelosi?”

“She’s disgusting,” Homan responded.

“Because she’s scared to death that a president is going to speak straight to the American people more than 8 minutes,” the former Homeland Security officer continued, “And explain there is a crisis on the border.”

“If Nancy Pelosi saw what I saw in the 34 years of my career, maybe she’d have a different attitude,” Homan added before sharing stories about migrants and undocumented immigrants dying while trying to reach the U.S. due to a lack of border security in some areas.

Pelosi sent a letter Wednesday to the White House asking for a postponement of the address and that Trump would just deliver his speech to congress in writing, because of security concerns. She wrote:

“The U.S. Secret Service was designated as the lead federal agency responsible for coordinating, planning, exercising, and implementing security for National Special Security Events. However, both the U.S. Secret Service and the Department of Homeland Security [DHS] have not been funded for 26 days now — with critical departments hamstrung by furloughs.

“Sadly, given the security concerns and unless government re-opens this week, I suggest that we work together to determine another suitable date after government has re-opened for this address or for you to consider delivering your State of the Union address in writing to the Congress on January 29th.”

But, of course, that was not the truth. Many people wonder if Pelosi is even capable of speaking the truth.

“Multiple DHS officials and Secret Service veterans have said that Pelosi is not being truthful in her claim that Secret Service is incapable of protecting the president during the State of the Union.”

Former Secret Service agent Dan Bongino told reporters that Pelosi owed the Secret Service an apology, and that the shutdown has nothing to do with agency readiness.

“The timing of their paychecks will have absolutely ZERO impact on their security plan. If Pelosi thinks the agents are going to put the POTUS in danger because they’ve missed a paycheck then she should find a new line of work,” Bongino said.

“The Secret Service is owed an apology by her for being unnecessarily put in the middle of this. These are patriots, not politicians,” Bongino added.

Department of Homeland Security Secretary Kirstjen Nielsen tweeted that DHS is “fully prepared to support and secure the State of the Union” on Jan. 29.

Such tactics by the left simply serve to show how truly terrified they are of the American people and the president, many argue.
