An Oregon man was sentenced to 25 years in prison for impregnating an 11-year-old girl.
Billy Joe Smith, 28, pleaded guilty Thursday to first-degree rape in Klamath County, and a judge handed down his sentence the same day, records show.
Authorities arrested Smith, a Sprague River resident, in March 2018 after the child was found to be 18 weeks pregnant, according to the Herald and News of Klamath Falls, which first reported the case.
Smith fled Oregon soon after prosecutors charged him with two counts of first-degree rape and one count of first-degree sexual abuse stemming from the November 2017 incident, records show.
He was arrested in Nevada a month later and extradited back to Oregon, according to court documents.
Records show Smith is also wanted in Wisconsin on outstanding charges of forgery, battery and resisting arrest.
