Paul Ryan probably never should’ve been Speaker of the House.
He was a moderate, weak-willed Republican who caved to Democrats at every turn. After all, there’s a reason he didn’t seek re-election in 2018.
Now, Ryan is saying there’s a chance President Trump could lose the 2020 general election.
Former House Speaker Paul Ryan (R-WI) said Monday that President Donald Trump could lose the 2020 presidential election if his “personality” is the central focus of his campaign.
“The person who defines that race is going to win the race. If this is about Donald Trump and his personality, he isn’t going to win it,” Ryan said during a lecture in Vero Beach, Florida, according to TCPalm.com.
The former speaker said President Trump should focus on issues of substance, rather than not style, if he wants to beat his Democrat presidential rival next year. Potential Democrat presidential contenders include Sens. Bernie Sanders (I-VT), Kamala Harris (D-CA), and Cory Booker (D-NJ). Former Vice President Joe Biden and former Rep. Robert Francis “Beto” O’Rourke (D-TX) are expected to launch campaigns in the coming weeks.
Roughly 65 million people voted for Hillary Clinton in the 2016 presidential election.
Every one of them will be heartbroken to learn that former First Lady Michelle Obama has decided to not run for president in 2020, despite some lefties believing she was the Democrats’ only chance of unseating President Trump.
From Daily Mail:
Michelle Obama has ruled out running for president at any point in the future.
The former First Lady said she wanted to ‘make room’ for younger generations who she and husband former President Barack Obama hope to ’empower’.
She made the announcement while speaking to a sell-out crowd at the Frank Erwin Center in Austin, TX.
Obama is currently on a promotional tour across the United States for her book ‘Becoming’ which recounts her childhood and time in the White House.
The autobiography sold 1.4 million copies in its first week, and went on to become the best-selling book of 2018.
Jay Inslee is the governor of Washington state. He is a Democrat candidate for president, but Inslee has a big problem.
He’s straight. He’s white. And he’s a male.
And he’s sorry about that.
From Free Beacon:
Washington governor and 2020 candidate Jay Inslee (D.) said on Sunday he thinks he has humility about being a straight white male, saying he recognizes the advantages he’s received as a result of that identity.
“Our new CNN/Des Moines Register poll shows only 38 percent of likely Democratic caucus-goers in Iowa say they would be satisfied with a straight white male nominee,” CNN anchor Jake Tapper said. “So why are you as a straight white male the right person to lead the Democratic party if there’s so much skepticism from Democrats in Iowa?”
“I think I have a humility about being a straight white male that I have never experienced discrimination like so many do. I’ve never been pulled over as an African-American teenager by an officer driving through a white neighborhood. I’ve never been a woman talked over in a meeting,” Inslee responded.
