Democrat Rep. Ilhan Omar (MN) just can’t win, but it’s not hard to see why.
The freshman lawmaker is similar to many of her peers, in that she can’t quit putting her foot in her mouth.
Omar, at this point, is widely considered to be anti-Semitic. That much is blatantly obvious, due to her constant tweets disparaging Israel and Jews.
Now, Secretary of State Mike Pompeo has decided to comment.
From Daily Wire:
Secretary of State Mike Pompeo slammed Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-MN) over her anti-Semitic rhetoric during a Thursday interview with CBN News, calling her actions “deeply troubling” and “abhorrent.”
Pompeo: “To see this from a member of Congress like Congresswoman Omar is — I talked about this being dark. The rise of anti-Semitism in the United States and in Europe and in, frankly, all across the world is something that is deeply troubling, and to see someone — a duly elected congressman — behave in that way, to speak about anti-Semitism in that way, is of great concern.”
Pompeo: “It’s a great concern to me. This administration speaks the truth, and anti-Semitism is unacceptable in any form from anyone, but to see it come from one of America’s leaders is just abhorrent.”
Multiple recent reports have shown that Pompeo is correct, anti-Semitism is rising across the United States and Europe.
“Antisemitism is rising sharply across Europe, experts have said, as France reported a 74% increase in the number of offenses against Jews last year and Germany said the number of violent antisemitic attacks had surged by more than 60%,” The Guardian reported. “The figures confirm the results of three recent Europe-wide surveys showing Jewish people feel at greater risk, and are experiencing markedly more aggression, amid a generalized increase in racist hate speech and violence in a significantly coarser, more polarized political environment.”
Omar once traveled with an anti-American group that supports socialism in Venezuela and Cuba.
Said group also wants the U.S. to return Gitmo to the Cubans.
From Fox News:
Rep. Ilhan Omar has attended a travel delegation to a South American country sponsored by a radical anti-American and anti-Israel organization that supports countries opposed to the U.S. and calls for the return of Guantanamo Naval Base to Cuba.
The Minnesota Democrat was accused of anti-Semitism after asserting that the American Israel Public Affairs Committee, a bipartisan group, was buying lawmakers.
She also grabbed headlines after first accusing the U.S. government of leading a coup against Venezuelan socialist tyrant Nicolas Maduro and then attempting to grill Elliott Abrams, the Trump administration’s new special envoy for Venezuela.
Now it was revealed that she once traveled to Honduras with an organization called Witness for Peace, a group formed during the Reagan administration that opposed America’s actions in South America aimed at stopping the spread of communism.
Omar tweeted the following four messages:
After traveling to Honduras as part of the Witness for Peace delegation, I’ve returned home with a heavy heart and deep concern for the electoral process and human rights crisis the people of Honduras are enduring.
Ilhan once proudly proclaimed that refugees to America are “detained and tortured.”
From Free Beacon:
Rep. Ilhan Omar (D., Minn.) claimed during a rally on Thursday that refugees who come to the United States are “detained and tortured.”
Omar told the crowd of activists, joined in their goal of defunding Immigration and Customs Enforcement, about the story of how her family risked their lives to flee Somalia into Kenya, before eventually coming to the United States. She said that because of her experience, she will “cry” every time she sees a picture of a little girl “standing in the desert waiting to get processed in the country.”
Omar: “The difference between what is happening to some of those little girls and me is that I didn’t have a cage waiting for me. I had an open-armed people with moral clarity, awaiting us and saying ‘you’ve been through a lot, here’s your new home, you’re our new neighbor, you need water and you need food.’”
