A new poll is suggesting conservative America is being censored on Twitter. According to a new Pew Research Center survey, the majority of Twitter users are younger, have higher incomes and lean left politically when compared to the general public.

The data comes amid the so-called “shadow banning” of conservatives on Twitter, which lowers the visibility of some Republican figures. President Trump recently met with Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey to address this issue.

In 2018, officials with Twitter said the company’s intention was to “improve the health of the public conversation,” but a former employee said the truth is to deceive and isolate some users.

“One strategy is to shadow ban so you have ultimate control. The idea of a shadow ban is you ban someone, but they don’t know they’ve been banned because they keep posting…but no one sees their content.”

Last year, Twitter officials said they “take action” against some users who “distort the conversation.”
