‘I’m a New Yorker, I know how to deal with a bully…’

de Blasio Suggests Bezos's Canoodling Cost NYC the Amazon Project

(Dave Goldiner, New York Daily News) Mayor Bill de Blasio had a stinging comeback to Donald Trump: he’s “low energy.”

Punching back at Trump’s jibe that he should stay in the Big Apple and do his job, Hizzoner noted that POTUS didn’t look up for a fight in a video posted on Twitter.

“I’m already under his skin,” de Blasio declared on MSNBC’s “Morning Joe” show. “His video was very low-energy. Low energy. He’s very scared of competing with me.”

The #LowEnergyTrump barb was a less-than-subtle reference to Trump’s trademark take-down of onetime Republican frontrunner Jeb Bush.

It dovetails with de Blasio’s twin pitch that he is the best one to take on Trump and to advocate for forgotten working people.

“I’m a New Yorker, I know how to deal with a bully,” de Blasio told hosts Joe Scarborough and Mika Brzezinski, who repeated his #ConDon presidential hashtag. “I’m going to take him on.”

“He made a video about me — it’s music to my ears,” the mayor added.

De Blasio did the interview in an open-collar shirt and blue blazer from what appeared to be a deserted motel lobby in Gowrie, Iowa. He’s going to appear at a couple of events in the first-in-the-nation caucus state before jetting out to South Carolina, which holds its primary after New Hampshire.

He brushed off New York front pages mocking his longshot White House bid as well as polls showing three in four New Yorkers say he shouldn’t run.

De Blasio repeated talking points that he would bring a laser focus on bread and butter issues for the working class. He ticked of universal pre-K, family leave and health care as his key achievements

“This whole election should be about working people who are struggling like never before,” de Blasio said.
