Democrats are not happy about this.

Robert Mueller recently broke his media silence for a brief moment in order to resign from the post of special counsel and give brief insight to his investigation.

But it’s what Mueller has revealed about himself that is doing Trump the most good.

“I hope and expect this to be the only time that I will speak to you in this manner. I am making that decision myself,” Mueller declared. “There has been discussion about an appearance before Congress. Any testimony from this office would not go beyond our report. … We chose those words carefully, and the work speaks for itself, and the report is my testimony.”

The report did not charge President Trump with any crimes. Which means that Mueller’s decision to stand behind the report, coupled with his decision to not give congressional testimony, robs Democrats of the ammunition they need to proceed with attempts to impeach Trump.

Many Republicans are more than happy to point this out.

The president’s attorney, Jay Sekulow, told Yahoo News that Mueller’s resignation “puts a period on a two-year investigation that produced no findings of collusion or obstruction against the president.”

While White House press secretary Sarah Sanders stated, “After two years, the special counsel is moving on with his life, and everyone else should do the same.”
