Rep. Maxine Waters is not only admitting defeat on impeaching President Donald Trump, now she is asking the president for a favor.
During an interview with Cheddar, Waters admitted that she has very little support in Congress for impeachment.
Now, she wants Trump to “just resign and save us the trouble.”
“I do believe that our country is a bit unsettled because we have the president — the likes we’ve never seen before,” Waters began.
“We have people coming from all different directions in our society saying something is wrong, and members of the California society want members of Congress to do something about it,” she added.
“And so it’s not reflected yet in the way that it should be reflected in the polls, but I’m confident that as each day goes by, that as people learn more and more, and the Mueller report has helped an awful lot. People understanding things they’ve never heard before,” Waters continued.
“Many people will never read that report, but as we go through our constitutional responsibility of oversight and investigation in the six committees that have that responsibility with this investigation, people are going to learn more and I’m confident the support for impeachment will grow,” she said.
While Waters talks tough about impeachment, it is quite remarkable to see her admit defeat and then ask the president to just resign.
The California Democrat continues to use aggressive language towards Trump and has been calling for his impeachment for over two years.
Last month, Waters vowed to “get rid of” Trump and then led a crowd of Democrats in a bizarre “impeach 45” chant.
“Some people say how dare her come out and say, ‘Impeach him! She doesn’t know enough about him to talk about impeaching him.’ But now the American people whether they say it or not, they know that this man is dangerous. That he’s not capable of the truth,” Waters said.
“That certainly he conspired with the Kremlin and with the oligarchs of Russia,” she claimed.
“Certainly he has caused us to lose allies all over the world,” she continued, “and they can’t believe we elected him to office.”
“But guess what?” she said. “They’re going to believe it when we get rid of him,” Waters continued.
Earlier this year, she said Trump needs to “shut up,” claimed he is an incompetent leader who can’t make a deal, and argued that he doesn’t understand how Congress works.
Waters — the same woman who demanded that her supporters be “forceful” and “confrontational” with Trump officials when they are out in public — continues to prove she will say and do anything to go after the president.
