You know you should listen when you have an intelligent Liberal who says that subpoenaing Robert Mueller is a bad idea.

That’s the case with former Harvard Law School professor Alan Dershowitz who implied that Democrats are in some real trouble.

Dershowitz was responding to Jerry Nadler, the House Judiciary Committee Chairman, after issuing a subpoena to force Robert Mueller to testify regarding his investigation report.

According to Fox News:

Nadler said no one would have no right to defy the subpoena, and that any privilege asserted by the White House would be waived because the relevant information would have already been released to the former special counsel’s office.

“There is no right to defy a congressional subpoena,” the lawmaker said.

“The White House might assert some privilege, but when they reveal a lot of the information to Mueller and even private attorneys, they waive the privilege. So I think he will answer the questions that are put to him, because it’s his civic duty to do so and he’s an upstanding prosecutor.” – The Best Collection Of Pro-Trump News On The Planet!

The problem, says Dershowitz, is that Nadler has overlooked some very important details. They are so important, in fact, that it compelled him to speak out against his party to try to talk some sense into them.

Nadler was very quick to say that no one could have the right to defy a subpoena, and that “any privilege” he would have would be irrelevant because the information is already out for the public to see.

This is incredibly short-sighted because Nadler is only thinking about what the Democrats will ask. Additionally, Robert Mueller has already stated that he will not give any additional information on his findings other than what is already in his report, according to NBC News:

Special counsel Robert Mueller said on Wednesday that his report “speaks for itself” and that even if he were to testify before Congress he wouldn’t provide any information “beyond what is already public.”

“The report is my testimony,” Mueller said at the Justice Department in his first comments on the two-year probe of Russian election meddling and possible obstruction by President Donald Trump.

Mueller said of his 448-page report: “We chose those words carefully and the work speaks for itself.”

“I would not provide information beyond what is already public in any appearance before Congress,” Mueller said.

Why is this short-sighted for Democrats?

As reported by Fox News:

Dershowitz claimed Nadler appeared to have overlooked that Mueller remains open to grilling from Republicans.

“He can’t refuse to answer questions about the FISA application,” Dershowitz said, referring to a request by the FBI to surveil a member of the 2016 Trump campaign under the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act (FISA).

“Those are the kind of questions that I think Republicans will be very well prepared to ask. Those are the kind of questions which are currently under investigation by the inspector general whose report we are waiting for. But those are not in any way precluded. So I think that they will regret having called him.”

So it sounds as though Mueller is protected from speaking out further on his investigation, but is absolutely unprotected from questioning about the illegal spying into the Trump presidential campaign.

So make sure you pop some popcorn on July 17th, the day in which Mueller is scheduled to testify before the House Judiciary and Intelligence Committees.

It will be a show worth watching!
