US Marshals and FBI agents have arrested an illegal alien who was wanted in relation to a 2018 triple homicide of his then-wife, her unborn child, and another man.
Dimas Coronado Chafino was arrested at the Phoenix Sky Harbor Airport on Thursday, just under two years after his 24-year old wife, Oralia Nunez, and 34-year old Omar Gonzalez were murdered in Nunez’s trailer home in Phoenix. Coronado, who authorities suspect may be linked to Mexican drug smuggling organizations, went on to flee from the country with the couple’s two children.
Police officers had reportedly been providing protection to Nunez before the murders, securing the premises after Coronado communicated violent threats to his then-estranged wife.
Law enforcement also confirmed that Coronado had been an illegal alien who had resided in the United States for two years before the triple homicide. Local media has reported that Coronado had faced murder charges in Mexico before initially entering the United States. He was detected attempting to reenter the United States on Thursday, and authorities were able to detain the homicide suspect at the airport.
Coronado is also being charged with kidnapping in relation to the transport of the couple’s two sons to Mexico. He’s being held in a Maricopa County jail on a $2 million bond.
