Sen. Rand Paul (R-KY) is getting eviscerated by unhinged leftists on Twitter for criticizing their newest sacred cow: the U.S. Postal Service (USPS).
Paul said to U.S. Postmaster General Louis DeJoy during a Senate hearing on Friday that the USPS should cut staff and make tough decisions, rather than expecting a federal bailout to keep their bankrupt operation afloat a little longer.
“We started that a few years ago, but we’ve got to do more of it,” Paul said. “The mail keeps dropping, you’ve got to have less employees.”
Paul is staunchly against giving the USPS more money unless they agree to concrete reforms that will put the agency on the road to solvency. He has blasted the USPS frequently in recent days.
“You might as well put it into a big pile on your front lawn and burn it,” Paul said to Fox News’ Neal Cavuto about the ridiculous notion of giving more federal money to the USPS.
“There is no way to give any money to the post office to make the post office redeemable. You cannot fix the post office unless you fix their labor problem,” he added.
The American Postal Workers Union, desperate to protect their racket from scrutiny, blasted Paul on Twitter for making his comments in favor of fiscal sanity.
