Thousands left without heat during the coldest time of year

The FBI is investigating three separate “intentional attacks” on gas service lines near Aspen, Colorado.

The coordinated effort, which took place on Saturday night, left thousands of residents without heat as temperatures dropped as low as two degrees.

Black Hills Energy gas line sites were the target of each attack.

Indicating a radical left-wing environmentalist motive were the words “Earth first” written on a pipe at a natural gas pumping station.

Police are looking into a self-described “radical environmental group” called Earth First!

Aspen’s Assistant Police Chief Bill Linn, said the saboteurs must have some knowledge of gas lines, because they, “tampered with the flow lines. They turned off the gas lines.”

While the gas lines were down, local officials handed out electric space heaters to residents.

3,500 Black Hills Energy customers were without heat, and crews had to manually reset pilot lights in each of the thousands of homes left without gas.

Speaking with The Aspen Times newspaper, Pitkin County Commissioner Patti Clapper said, “It’s almost, to me, an act of terrorism. It’s trying to destroy a mountain community at the height of the holiday season. This wasn’t a national gas glitch. This was a purposeful act. Someone is looking to make a statement of some kind.”

Several businesses, restaurants and hotels had to shut down due to the attack.

Why is mainstream media ignoring this domestic assault?
