The Biden administration is hoping to move ‘child migrants’ to multiple military bases in Texas, according to reports.
Federal agencies have been scouring the country in search of facilities in which to pack large numbers of ‘unaccompanied alien children’ who continue pouring across the U.S.-Mexico border at a historic rate.
Health and Human Services (HHS) has filed a request with the Department of Defense (DoD) to access spaces at Joint Base San Antonio and Fort Bliss, near El Paso.
Pentagon spokesman John Kirby confirmed a petition for assistance that is currently being considered by DoD officials, The Hill reports.
“We have just received this request so I don’t have much more detail than that,” Kirby told reporters on Tuesday. “We’ll analyze it and evaluate it just like we would any other request for assistance.”
More than 16,000 ‘child migrants’ are currently in federal custody, with approximately 500 more arriving every day, according to CBS.
After federal authorities recently disclosed plans to move 3,000 ‘child migrants’ into the Dallas Convention Center, it was revealed that at least 2,300 of them are males between the ages of 15 and 17.
