ROME, Italy: Italy’s Covid death toll continues falling, with 83 reported deaths on Friday and 44 on Saturday.

These are the lowest figures since mid-October, and the daily tally of Covid infections also dropped to 2,949 from 3,351, according to Italy’s health ministry.

Since the outbreak of Covid in February 2020, Italy has recorded 126,046 deaths, the second-highest number of deaths in Europe after Britain and the seventh-highest in the world.

Italy has reported 4.216 million Covid infections, to date.

Also, there were 6,591 Covid patients in Italian hospitals, as of Sunday, down from 6,800 one day earlier.

On Sunday, the health ministry extended its ban on travelers arriving from India, Bangladesh and Sri Lanka until June 21.
