Psaki won’t give up number of vaccinated White House staffers infected with Covid. ‘Why do you need to have that information?’
Jen Psaki refused to respond to a reporter’s question asking the number of White House staffers who’ve experienced “breakthrough cases” of Covid-19 despite being fully vaccinated.
On Friday, a reporter hit her with the question square between the eyes, forcing Psaki point blank to refuse to give up the number.
“This administration has long claimed they’re trying to be the most transparent in history. If that’s the case, why won’t you just release the number of breakthrough cases that you’ve had with unvaccinated staffers?” the reporter asked.
Psaki skirted around the question by answering that the world’s in a different place from six months ago and people who are vaccinated “are protected from serious illness.”
“But why not just provide the number? Are you trying to hide something?” the reporter questioned.
“No,” Psaki responded, “but what is the – why do you need to have that information?”
“Because of transparency,” the reporter answered, adding that there’s public interest in how the White House handles “breakthrough cases.”
Instead of answering the question at hand, Psaki instead doltishly refers to the CDC’s literature on “breakthrough cases” and how it tracks them throughout the country.
In other words, she completely deflects and diverts from the matter because she knows news of breakthrough cases inside the White House would undermine public confidence in vaccines.
So much for a transparent administration.
