Vice President Kamala Harris is calling for an investigation into US Border Patrol for “attacking” and rounding up Haitian migrants at the southern border. She said she was “deeply troubled” by images of Border Patrol officers that surfaced Tuesday.

“What I saw depicted about those individuals on horseback treating human beings the way they were is horrible. I fully support what is happening right now, which is a thorough investigation into what exactly is going on there,” said Harris.

“Human beings should never be treated that way, and I am deeply troubled about it.”

Harris said she planned to discuss the issue later Tuesday with Department of Homeland Security Secretary Antonio Mayorkas, reported NY Daily News.

The situation at the southern border continues to deteriorate as thousands of migrants wade across the Rio Grande from the Mexican side to the US side of the border.

On Saturday, the Department of Homeland Security announced that it would be sending an additional 400 agents and officers to Del Rio, Texas, to assist in moving the encampment of Haitian migrants currently under a bridge there.

The DHS said in its Saturday statement that the agents and officers would be deployed to the area in the next 24 to 48 hours to help move the large group of migrants to other processing locations along the border.

They noted that “if additional staff is needed, more will be sent.”

Overwhelmed agents work six-day work-weeks at more than 10 hours a day dealing with over 14,000 primarily Haitian migrants camped under the international bridge – with reports of tens of thousands more migrants on the way.

DHS sent more agents on horseback, supplies and medical assistance, and increased deportation flights in an attempt to stop migrants from entering the US.

Border Patrol agents expressed their frustrations to Fox News with the Biden administration, claiming they are deflecting from their inability to control the situation at the southern border.

“This whole situation is blowing up, and even liberals are turning on this administration,” said one agent. “[Harris] is placing blame on agents to deflect because she and Biden are not going to change how they are handling this.”

Another agent bluntly said the outrage “just proves what absolute idiots they are.

US President Joe Biden tapped Harris to solve the migrant crisis along the southern border after Harris ignored the situation months into the Biden mandate.

Harris said the situation should be a wake-up call to do much more to address the humanitarian crisis in Haiti, where a 7.2 magnitude earthquake last month killed hundreds and caused widespread devastation.

The vice president noted that “the whole point is that we have to understand Haiti. I mean, talk about a country that has just experienced so much tragedy that has been about natural disasters.”

“And we really have to do a lot more to recognize that as a member of the Western Hemisphere, we’ve got to support some very basic needs that the people of Haiti have to get back up,” she added.

The earthquake was deadlier than the 7.0 magnitude earthquake that struck Haiti in 2010 that killed more than 200,000 people and caused billions of dollars in damage.

“As a member of the Western Hemisphere, we’ve got to support some very basic needs that the people of Haiti have,” said Harris.

“People want to stay home. They don’t want to leave home. But they leave when they cannot satisfy their basic needs … This is a concern for all of us.”

Harris expects impoverished Haitians and others from Central America to continue to enter the US, citing unresolved economic and political duress in their homelands.https://rumble.com/embed/vjpz59/?pub=2n05b&autoplay=2Ads by revcontent
