The footage is a perfect analogy for the cultural and political destruction of America

A statue of Thomas Jefferson that has stood for almost 200 years was removed from New York City Hall Monday after a minority of Mayoral appointees deemed it to be potentially offensive.
Footage of the statue being removed was shared widely.

It was secured with straps and lifted by chains:

Woke City Hall has banned all statutes of his likeliness with Democrat Co-Chair saying he wanted the statue gone because it doesnât represent contemporary values.https://t.co/fewWQGnKcE pic.twitter.com/EOit4vUoXs
The statue was then placed into a crate and lowered down to the ground floor of the building:

The statue will be relocated to the New-York Historical Society after nine members of the Mayoral appointed Public Design Commission voted in October to remove it.
Several lawmakers testified that the statue is âoffensiveâ, with Democratic Assemblyman Charles Barron of Brooklyn even declaring that Jefferson was a âslaveholding pedophile.â
Others, including Republican City council member Joe Borelli, accused NYC Mayor Bill de Blasio of waging a âprogressive war on history.âÂ
The statue will likely be included in educational exhibits with the âproperâ historical context that likely will include a discussion of Jeffersonâs slave ownership.
People who tried to watch the removal of the statue were initially told that they had no right to be there:

The left hates this country and wants to destroy it, and you. Everything you love, they hate.
If you value anything about the nation, the left is your enemy. Treat them as such. https://t.co/sKjQnS5KR5â Cincy Hustle (@cincyhustle513) November 23, 2021

As we previously noted, back in 2017, after statues of Confederate figures were targeted, President Trump predicted that soon enough it would be statues of Jefferson and Washington that would face the axe.
âThis week itâs Robert E. Lee. I noticed that Stonewall Jackson is coming down. I wonder, is George Washington next week, and is it, Thomas Jefferson, the week after? You really do have to ask yourself: âWhere does it stop?ââ Trump asked at the time.

The media said Trump was overreacting and pointing to a âfalse slippery slopeâ.
John Oliver devoted an entire segment to mocking Trump over the statement:

It hasnât stopped. History is being systematically erased.
Earlier this year we reported on the woke mob succeeding in influencing a MUSEUM in New York to remove a statue of former President Theodore Roosevelt.
Called it. Now the statues can't even be part of museums. https://t.co/SXs5toe4Vw
