A city in Brazil put an immediate halt to vaccines for youngsters after a 10-year-old girl suffered a heart attack mere hours after her first Pfizer injection.
The incident happened last week in Lençóis Paulista, a State of São Paulo, also known as “The World’s Vaccine Capital” due to its extremely high vaccination rate among adults.
Reports claim 10-year-old Luisa Petenuci received a Pfizer jab on Tuesday, January 18th.
A photo uploaded to social media shows the moment the asthmatic youngster got jabbed.
“According to her father, the 10-year-old experienced changes in heart rate shortly after and collapsed unexpectedly,” reports TheCovidWorld.com.
“She was then rushed to a private hospital where the 10-year-old had to be resuscitated.”

“After being stabilized, Luisa was then transferred to Unimed Hospital in Botucatu where she currently remains in intensive care.”
Following Luisa’s medical emergency, Lençóis Paulista city officials announced the child’s adverse reaction via social media and subsequently ordered a stop to their childhood vaccine program for 7 days, stating the “10-year-old suffered a heart attack 12 hours after receiving the pediatric dose of the Pfizer vaccine.”
The city reportedly dispatched health department workers to follow up with 46 other children who were also vaccinated.
A statement by the Center for Epidemiological Surveillance of São Paulo condemned city officials’ correlation of the child’s heart attack with the vaccine and dubbed their assumption “hasty and irresponsible.”
“The Epidemiological Surveillance Center (CVE) is following up and will analyze the case of Lençóis Paulista. CVE informs that all cases of adverse events are analyzed by a committee of experts before any confirmation. It is, therefore, hasty and irresponsible to say that the case of the municipality is associated with vaccination. Most of the time, the cases of post-vaccination adverse events are coincident, without any causal relationship with the immunizer,” the center wrote.
In a follow-up statement from the CVE on Thursday announcing the outcome of an investigation, they said they “ruled out the adverse post-vaccination event in the 10-year-old child,” and claimed there was “no causal relationship between vaccination.”
“The analysis, carried out by more than 10 specialists, pointed out that the child had a rare congenital disease, not known to the family, which triggered the clinical framework,” purported the agency.
In Brazil, vaccinations for children as young as five began last week, despite objections from Brazilian President Jair Bolsonaro, who voiced concerns against vaccinating the group least at-risk of dying from Covid.
“Are you going to vaccinate your child when the possibility of dying is almost zero? What is behind this? What are the interests of vaccine maniacs?” questioned President Bolsonaro earlier this month.
After the Brazilian government approved vaccines for children last month, Bolsonaro went on record saying he would not vaccinate his 11-year-old daughter and urged others in the country to follow his lead.
