A teenage boy sustained serious injuries when he was attacked and stabbed by a group of assailants aboard a bus in France this week, according to reports.
The brutal incident unfolded at around 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday in Arles, a commune in the southern coastal department of Bouches-du-Rhône.
A 16-year-old male was set upon by a mob of six or seven attackers on a public bus.
“The victim was punched and kicked. He also received knee blows while his friend was kept at a distance by some of the attackers,” a police source told Actu 17.
The boy was reportedly stabbed in the spine and side of his torso.
After the driver detected the altercation, he stopped the vehicle and the assailants fled the scene.
The victim managed to exit the bus but quickly collapsed on the ground.
He was rushed to the hospital for emergency surgery.
Authorities have opened an investigation and are hoping to identify suspects using surveillance footage.
