The driver of a big rig failed to yield at a checkpoint on Highway 83 in Webb County, prompting a pursuit by Border Patrol agents which was later taken over by Texas Department of Public Safety (TXDPS) Troopers.

“During the pursuit, the driver of the truck struck law enforcement vehicles. A La Salle County Sheriff’s Deputy and DPS Troopers fired several rounds into the truck cab as it threatened law enforcement officers, sideswiping a La Salle Country patrol unit and ramming another DPS patrol unit,” TXDPS explained in a statement.
