German authorities have apprehended an Afghan male working security at an asylum center for Ukrainian refugees after he was accused of sexually assaulting multiple children staying there, according to reports.

On Wednesday, authorities in the state of Baden-Württemberg announced the arrest of a security guard suspected of harassing and sexually touching two girls, aged 6 and 7, who have been staying at a reception center in the town of Messstetten.

“The 24-year-old Afghan national was brought before the magistrate at the Hechingen District Court on Tuesday afternoon. The judge issued the arrest warrant requested by the public prosecutor’s office in Hechingen and put it into effect,” police explained in a press release.

The children reportedly told their mother about the alleged attacks and she notified management of the security service.

Police immediately arrested the Afghan suspect and he was brought before a court on Tuesday amid an ongoing investigation.

Psychological care has been offered to the mother and her daughters, according to Tübingen district president Klaus Tappeser.

The suspect has been fired by the security company and banned from entering the premises, SWR reports.
