Despite the fact that Americans rejected Democrat’s agenda in the 2022 midterms, leading to Republicans retaking the House, Congressional Democrats seem intent on jamming through a radical agenda during the lame-duck session.
Already, Democrats have attempted to push through mass amnesty for DACA recipients with no additional funding for border security, though they did make a token offer to increase the pay of border patrol agents.
Now, they want to pass $1.75 billion in funding to cover the costs of travel and lodging for women who want to go to other states to get late-term abortions.
The proposal is a workaround of the Hyde Amendment that prohibits the federal government from funding women’s abortion procedures. Since the funding is only covering their travel and lodging costs, and not the procedure itself, it could technically be permitted under the Hyde Amendment.
