Fifty-six House Republicans have called on Joe Biden to fire Vice President Kamala Harris from her border crisis role.
Republican Wisconsin Rep. Glenn Grothman noted Harris is still yet to visit the border despite being tapped by Biden for the role over two months ago.
The Biden administration declared Harris’s job was to focus on the “root causes of migration.”
But Harris has repeatedly dodged questions about visiting the border.

Reps. Madison Cawthorn of North Carolina, Louie Gohmert of Texas, and Jody Hice of Georgia are among the Republicans who are expressing “serious concerns regarding” Harris’s “appointment as” the administration’s leader in solving the crisis, according to the letter.

“Despite being in the midst of a border crisis this country has not seen in two decades, Vice President Harris has not yet shown adequate interest in observing this crisis first-hand,” the lawmakers wrote.
“In the 85 days since the Vice President has been tasked with solving this crisis, she has yet to visit the border and meet with Border Patrol agents, Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) officials, and local law enforcement officials.”

The lawmakers declared it “an insult” to the “hardworking” officials tasked with protecting the border.
The slew of Republicans also addressed the administration’s now-common “root causes of migration” talking point and said Harris has “made excuses about her role in solving the crisis.”
“President Harris wrongly presumes that ‘root causes’ of migration can only stem from a migrant’s country of origin,” the letter said.
“Even if we assume that ‘root causes’ only stem from a migrant’s country of origin, the exclusive focus on Central American countries ignores the fact that we see many migrants attempting to illegally cross our southern border from countries all over the world.”

Earlier this week, Trump announced that he is scheduled to make an official visit to the “Nation’s decimated Southern Border.”
On Tuesday evening, Trump revealed he had accepted an invitation to visit the U.S.-Mexico boder with Texas Gov. Greg Abbott (R) on an official trip.
Trump said he would visit the “Nation’s decimated Southern Border on Wednesday, June 30, 2021.”
Last month, a Republican congresswoman Rep. Ashley Hinson (R-IA), introduced a bill that seeks to block taxpayer money from being used to fund Harris’s travel costs until she visits the U.S. southern border to address Joe Biden’s migrant crisis.
We have an absolute crisis at the border, and Vice President Harris was appointed to lead the administration’s efforts on the border crisis, but it’s been 56 days, and in that time she hasn’t been to the border once,” Hinson said during an interview with Fox News on Wednesday.
“She hasn’t held a news conference on the administration’s efforts for a plan, and I think it’s time she does that.”
