The U.S. Capitol Building’s security footage from Jan. 6, 2021, has been hidden from the public for over two years. Now, according to GOP Reps. Matt Gaetz and Lauren Boebert, House Speaker Kevin McCarthy (R-Calif.) has decided to release this footage to the public.

On Friday, Rep. Gaetz (R-Florida) told Fox News’s Tucker Carlson that McCarthy promised both Gaetz and Colorado Rep. Boebert that he would release the security footage in exchange for their support in his bid for House Speaker.
“The American people deserve to know the truth about what happened on January 6th,” Gaetz told Carlson. “We have demanded to see all the footage. Transparency is coming.”
“Every time – from the JFK files to 9/11, to now January 6th – it’s our own government, our own Department of Justice that seems to stand in the way of transparency,” added the Florida Rep.
