The #MeToo mob has come for Uygar!
Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-VT) was forced to rescind his endorsement for Cenk Uygar of The Young Turks on Friday following the discovery of sexist comments that Uygar has made in the past.
Uygar, a progressive figure who has hosted his online news and commentary show for years, is running for California’s 25th Congressional seat that was abdicated by disgraced harlot Katie Hill, who recently resigned due to inappropriate sexual relationships with staffers. Sanders was quick to endorse Uygar, who has been influential in the rise of Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) to national prominence.
“I’m endorsing Cenk because I know he will serve ordinary people, not powerful special interests,” Sanders said on Thursday, in a statement that was promoted heavily by Uygur’s campaign. “He is a voice that we desperately need in Congress and will be a great representative for CA-25 and the country.”
But just one day later, Sanders retracted his endorsement after women’s groups highlighted comments Uygar made about the fairer sex before he became a public figure. Uygar once complained that “the genes of women are flawed” because he could not find a woman willing to have sex with him while he was staying in Miami. He also said that he would legalize beastiality if he were ever made a globalist dictator.
On Friday afternoon, Sanders threw Uygar under the bus and formally retracted his endorsement.
“As I said yesterday, Cenk has been a longtime fighter against the corrupt forces in our politics,” Sanders said in a statement. “However, our movement is bigger than any one person. I hear my grassroots supporters who were frustrated and understand their concerns. Cenk today said he is rejecting all endorsements for his campaign, and I retract my endorsement.”
Uygur claimed without evidence that “corporations, lobbyists, and special interest groups” were behind the pressure campaign to get Sanders to rescind his endorsement. Uygar said that he will no longer be taking any endorsements in lieu of this monumental embarrassment for his campaign.
“That’s why I have decided that I will not be accepting any endorsements… The only endorsements I’ll be accepting going forward is that of the voters,” he said.
In reality, it was the social justice warriors of the authoritarian Left that came after Uygar for his wrongthink. The California Women’s List, a feminist group that fundraises for Democratic candidates across the Golden State, led the way to pressure Sanders into disavowing Uygar.
“California Women’s List is disappointed in Senator Sanders’ endorsement of Cenk Uygur, a candidate who has repeatedly used misogynistic, racist, and homophobic language,” said Emily Zahn, who works as board president of California Women’s List.
“This endorsement appears to go against Senator Sanders’ platform and role as a leader in the progressive movement,” she added.
The harpies at the National Organization for Women (NOW) also got on Sanders’ case over his support for Uygar.
“If Bernie Sanders is a real progressive—he will disavow Cenk Uygur immediately,” the Hollywood chapter of NOW told the Daily Beast, adding that Uygur’s remarks about women are “both disturbing and disqualifying.”
“If Bernie Sanders expects to get the support of women in his campaign for the White House in 2020, he needs to start prioritizing them in his race by taking back his endorsement of known misogynist Cenk Uygur,” they added.
Uygar has promoted progressive politics and political correctness for years, but now he is on the receiving end of the witch hunt. He has resorted to shameless groveling, begging the mob for forgiveness for his past thought crimes.
“The announcement of my candidacy has again brought up remarks I made over the years that do not reflect who I am today or what I believe,” Uygur said in a statement. “Those comments were and are offensive and ignorant. I deeply regret making them and I apologize for the pain they have caused.”
Ugyar will not likely receive any forgiveness from the ‘woke’ Left now that they smell blood in the water. His Congressional chances are not looking good for the special election scheduled to take place on March 3, 2020.
