Secret of cancer immunity in Elephants are multiple cancer protection genes

November 18, 2017 Leave a comment

Bigger creatures should have more cancer risk. However, Elephants do not have high rates of cancer. They have some kind of protection.

* elephants have 20 extra duplicates of p53, a tumor suppressor gene.
* they also duplicate copies of the LIF gene, which encodes for leukemia inhibitory factor.

Elephant cells commit suicide at the first hint of abnormality.

Study: Women With High Cholesterol Less Likely To Develop Breast Cancer

November 15, 2017 1 comment

A new study claims that women diagnosed with high cholesterol are 45% less likely to develop breast cancer.

Scientists attending a conference of the European Society of Cardiology in Barcelona, Spain, learned about the findings from a longitudinal study of more than one million patient records.

Women with high cholesterol levels – with a “diagnosis of hyperlipidaemia” – enjoy significant protection against breast cancer, and lower overall mortality aswell. reports: Read the abstract of “Patients with a diagnosis of hyperlipidaemia have a reduced risk of developing breast cancer and lower mortality rates: a large retrospective longitudinal cohort study from the UK ACALM registry.”

To do the study, the researchers looked at the records of 16,043 women in the United Kingdom who were admitted to the hospital between Jan. 1, 2000 and March 31, 2013 with a diagnosis of high cholesterol. The women were age 40 or older.

The researchers compared the records of the women with high cholesterol to a group of women of similar ages without high cholesterol. None of the women had been diagnosed with breast cancer when the study started. The average age of the women in the study was 66.

The researchers found that women with high cholesterol were 45% less liked to be diagnosed with breast cancer than women without high cholesterol.

The researchers then adjusted the data for factors that might influence survival, including age, ethnicity, and conditions such as high blood pressure and heart failure. They found that women with high cholesterol who were diagnosed with breast cancer were 40% less likely to die from breast cancer than women without high cholesterol.

Why women with high cholesterol have a lower risk of breast cancer isn’t clear, but the researchers suspect that statins, medicines used to lower cholesterol, might be the reason.

“Compared to those without high cholesterol, patients with high cholesterol had a 45% reduced risk of breast cancer, and if they did develop breast cancer, a 40% reduced chance of death,” said Dr. Rahul Potluri, of Aston University and senior author of the study. “If a diagnosis of high cholesterol leads to lower breast cancer rates, this must either relate to something inherent in the condition or affected patients, or more likely, to treatment with widely used cholesterol lowering interventions such as statins.”

“Our research confirms that women with a diagnosis of high cholesterol have strikingly lower rates of breast cancer with improved death rates and survival,” said Dr. Paul Carter, lead author of the study. “Building on previous research by us and other groups, including animal studies in which statins reduced the risk of breast cancer, this gives a strong indication that statins produce this protective effect in breast cancer.”

Still, it is too early to recommend statins to prevent or slow the growth of breast cancer. Much more research needs to be done to understand exactly how statins might be used to reduce the risk of breast cancer.

Stay tuned to Research News for the latest information on links between high cholesterol, statins, and breast cancer.

Eight Disneyland guests, one worker contracted Legionnaires’ disease

Eight guests and one worker at Disneyland have contracted Legionnaires’ disease, prompting the Anaheim, Calif., theme park to close a pair of cooling towers.

Besides the nine cases, three other people who lived in or traveled to Anaheim developed the disease, according to the Orange County Health Care Agency, as reported by the Los Angeles Times.

The 12 victims ranged from 52 to 94 years old. Ten of the people were hospitalized and one person “with additional health issues” died, despite not visiting the park, OCHCA Public Information Officer Jessica Good said in a report by KNBC-TV.

In Orange County, 55 cases of the disease have been reported this year.

About three weeks ago, the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention notified county authorities of several cases of the disease among people who had traveled to Orange County in September. By the end of October, Disneyland learned of the cases.

On Nov. 3, Disney informed the health agency that routine testing had detected elevated levels of Legionella bacteria in two cooling towers a month earlier. The company said the towers, located in a space more than 100 feet from areas accessible to guests, were disinfected and were returned to service Sunday.

On Tuesday, Disney took the towers down again because the health agency ordered them to verify they were free of the Legionella contamination.

Walt Disney Parks and Resorts Chief Medical Officer Pamela Hymel said Disney conducted more tests on all of their water towers.

“There is no known ongoing risk associated with this outbreak,” the health care agency said in a statement.

OCHCA said the Legionnaires’ disease exposure period in Anaheim was Sept. 12-27.

The type of pneumonia was named Legionnaires’ disease after an outbreak of pneumonia caused 34 deaths at a 1976 American Legion Convention in Philadelphia in 1976. Legionnaires’ disease is caused by bacteria growing in water that can spread when small droplets get into the air and people breathe them in, according to the CDC. It is not contagious from person to person.

People generally contract the disease two days after exposure and usually can be treated with antibiotics, though the CDC said one in 10 people die from the infection.

Symptoms include cough, shortness of breath, fever, muscle aches and headaches,

Research Shows Switching To Non-GMO Diet Can Reverse These 28 Conditions

November 13, 2017 Leave a comment

(Walking Times) GMO’s are ubiquitous throughout the United States and many other nations, making them difficult to avoid. Although presumed safe or GRAS (Generally Recognized as Safe) by governmental authorities and GMO manufacturers, studies have shown that a number of problems can occur in animals as a result of eating a GMO diet, including physiological issues and excessive cell growth in stomach or intestinal lining.

Digestive issues typically improve when GMO’s are removed from the diet, but nonetheless GM foods can negatively affect digestion which is key to the body’s overall health.

“An astonishing 85% of respondents reported improvements in their ‘digestive problems,’ the ailment most commonly cited. Of these respondents, 80% said their digestive issues were ‘significantly improved’, ‘nearly gone’, or ‘completely recovered’.” – Jeffrey M. Smith

New research from the International Journal of Human Nutrition and Functional Medicine shines light onto the health benefits associated with changing to a non-GMO diet. The survey accounts for 3,256 people who have seen major improvements with 28 different health conditions. If you’ve ever wondered about whether switching to an organic diet would be worth it, maybe these new findings will give you the answer you’ve been looking for.

28 Conditions Reversed with Non-GMO Diet

After analyzing the data, it becomes evident that the research is consistent with reports by physicians in regard to improving patients’ health by switching to largely non-GMO and organic diets. A few of the most common conditions which typically see improvement are digestive issues like leaky gut, fatigue, and obesity.

However, this new study has shown that many more common ailments can be improved by a switch of the diet away from genetically modified organisms (GMO’s).

A complete list of conditions which were reversed or severely reduced by switching to non-GMO and their recovery rates:

– Digestive (85.2%)

– Fatigue, low energy (60.4%)

– Overweight or obesity (54.6%)

– Clouding of consciousness, “brain fog” (51.7%)

– Food allergies or sensitivities (50.2%)

– Mood problems, such as anxiety or depression (51.1%)

– Memory, concentration (48.1%)

– Joint pain (47.5%)

– Seasonal allergies (46.6%)

– Gluten sensitivities (42.2%)

– Insomnia (33.2%)

– Other skin conditions, not eczema (30.9%)

– Hormonal problems (30.4%)

– Musculoskeletal pain (25.2%)

– Autoimmune disease (21.4%)

– Eczema (20.8%)

– Cardiovascular problems and high blood pressure (19.8%)

– Asthma (14.8%)

– Menstrual problems (13.1%)

– Diabetes (10.6%)

– Other mental disorders (7.9%)

– Underweight (6.5%)

– Cancer (4.8%)

– Kidney disease (4.5%)

– Infertility (3.8%)

– Autism spectrum (2.6%)

– Alzheimer’s disease (2.4%)

– Parkinson’s disease (1.4%)

Varieties of GMO foods include most corn and soy, alfalfa which is fed to animals, zucchini, yellow squash and papaya, and now certain varieties of apples and potatoes as well. All of these products are commercially sold and have not been backed by any serious long-term studies proving them safe.

In fact, due to lawsuits by the Alliances for Bio-Integrity, in 1998 the FDA was forced to hand over several internal memos revealing that agency scientists inside the FDA had repeatedly warned that GMO foods could cause serious side effects such as allergies and nutritional problems, but they were ignored and no long-term testing was done.

According to the research, there are three major potential causes of illness from GMO. These include 1) the generic side-effects of the GMO transformation process, 2) the Bt toxin found in GMO corn and cotton plants and 3) the herbicides, particularly glyphosate-based herbicides, which are sprayed on most GMOs.

Disturbing effects which may occur at a biological level in GM crops can range from unexpected changes to amino acids, immunoreactive and potentially allergic proteins, or misshapen proteins. Alteration of RNA and gene function can also occur as a result of consuming GM foods.

Although it would take highly controlled long-term human trials to scientifically prove that negative effects of eating GMO’s exist in humans, it becomes self-evident after looking through the wealth of research available on health risks associated with GM foods that avoiding them is a safe bet toward long-term overall health and avoiding disease.

6 Foods That Help The Body Detox Heavy Metals

November 12, 2017 Leave a comment

(Walking Times“Heavy metal toxicity—from metals such as mercury, aluminum, copper, cadmium, nickel, arsenic, and lead—represents one of the greatest threats to our health and well-being.” ~ Anthony William, author of Medical Medium: Secrets Behind Chronic and Mystery Illness and How to Finally Heal

Heavy metals such as arsenic, cadmium, chromium, lead, and mercury, can be very toxic. Regardless of this risk, they are commonly used in industrial, agricultural, medical and technology applications. As a result, they have become one of the many substances polluting our environment and threatening human health.

How Heavy Metals Affect the Human Body

Most people are exposed to heavy metals throughout their lives. For many, this exposure happens on a daily basis. Subsequently, these heavy metals bioaccumulate deep inside the body’s tissues and pose a significant threat to your health long-term. They put immense stress on the human body, slowly poisoning the body, damaging organs, and weakening the immune system.

Many scientific studies have shown that toxic heavy metals such as arsenic increase our risks of both carcinogenic and systemic health effects. A study titled Heavy Metals Toxicity and the Environment, conducted at Jackson State University, Mississippi, states:

A comprehensive analysis of published data indicates that heavy metals such as arsenic cadmium, chromium, lead, and mercury, occur naturally. However, anthropogenic activities contribute significantly to environmental contamination. These metals are systemic toxicants known to induce adverse health effects in humans, including cardiovascular diseases, developmental abnormalities, neurologic and neurobehavioral disorders, diabetes, hearing loss, hematologic and immunologic disorders, and various types of cancer.

Heavy Metals are Present in Water and Food

It would seem that with this information publicly available, our exposure to these dangerous metals would be limited. Such is not the case. These metals are present in our environment, including drinking water and foods. For example, the Environmental Working Group, a non-profit research organization environmental watchdog, recently released a studythat showed that almost 50,000 public water systems in the U.S. are contaminated with dozens of harmful chemicals. These included heavy metals arsenic, chromium, barium, and uranium.

Another article published in Comprehensive Reviews in Food Science and Food Safety states:

Toxic elements such as mercury, arsenic, cadmium, and lead, sometimes called heavy metals, can diminish mental and central nervous system function; elicit damage to blood composition as well as the kidneys, lungs, and liver; and reduce energy levels. Food is considered one of the main routes of their entry into the human body.

Helping the Body Eliminate Heavy Metals

Let’s face it: we’re all exposed to heavy metals. Even if you’re feeling healthy, you probably have heavy metals burrowed deep inside your tissues. Therefore, it is important to undergo a process of cleansing the body of these dangerous substances. This can be done quite easily and inexpensively with certain supplements and foods.

Foods that help the body eliminate heavy metals are a safe and effective way to proactively protect the body from the effects of long-term exposure. Through the process of chelation, certain foods attract and bond with metals, allowing the body to expel them as waste.

A typical process of removing heavy metals from the body will take about 2-3 months. During this term, it is best to eat as many chelating foods as possible. You can also choose to take a daily supplement, such as activated charcoal or chlorella, both discussed below.

In addition, remember to drink plenty of water, about 6-8 glasses per day, to help the body’s elimination process. Finally, consider eating extra clean during this time. This means choosing organics when possible, limiting ingestion of contaminated foods such as fish, and reducing processed foods and sugars.

Foods to Eat During Heavy Metal Detox

The following foods are capable of reducing heavy metals toxicity in the body.

  1. Ginger

Ginger is one of the healthiest plants on Earth. In addition to improving digestion and reducing inflammation in the body, ginger root supports kidney function. The kidneys play an important role in the body’s elimination process and are often one of the first targets of heavy metals toxicity, so they need ginger’s extra power boost.

  1. Citrus Fruit

Citrus fruits, especially lemons and limes, are high in citric acid. Studies have shown that foods high in citric acid have the ability to seize metal atoms, such as mercury, cadmium and lead, from contaminated foods. Thus, it is beneficial to eat these citrus fruits during a heavy metal detox, especially in combination with foods that are typically contaminated, such as fish.

In addition, researchers have found the citrus pectin can help the body eliminate heavy metals. Citrus pectin is a complex carbohydrate that is abundantly present in the inner peel of citrus fruits. In a study on Chinese children, the study demonstrated that modified citrus pectin increases the urinary excretion of toxic lead, arsenic, mercury and cadmium.

  1. Probiotic Foods

Probiotic foods are high in lactic acid, which make these foods ideal for helping the body detox from heavy metals. Similarly to citric acid, lactic acid bonds with metal atoms and helps with heavy metal detox. According to researchers, the friendly gut bacteria Lactobacillus—which are found in our mouth and gut – have the ability to detoxify heavy metals.

Here are a few recipe if you want to make fermented vegetables at home. Taking a probiotic supplement is also an option.

  1. Chlorella and Cilantro

Chlorella is a solid green-colored form of algae. Although it is a little harder to digest than spirulina, chlorella is known to be effective in removing heavy metals for just this reason. Chlorella’s cell walls are very tough and often cannot be fully digested, and it is these cell walls that bind to toxins in your body in order to eliminate them.

In addition to being a great chelator, chlorella also supplies many vital nutrients that the body needs to establish a healthier environment.

Holistic healthcare practitioners believe that a person undergoing a detoxification treatment using chlorella should also consume cilantro. Here’s an explanation of why this works from Dr. Mark McClure from National Integrated Health Associates:

To effectively remove the neurotoxin, they need to be effectively bound in the upper part of the small intestine, when the bile is secreted during digestion. Chlorella eaten with food or dosing chlorella 1 hour prior to a cilantro dose will bind the neurotoxin in the bile with the chlorella and carry it out in the feces. Cilantro causes the liver to release the bile. Cilantro is also an important source of organic selenium, a very important mineral in heavy metal detox.

The action of cilantro is quick (about 20 min). Cilantro mobilizes mercury and other neurotoxins from the cell membranes but does not chelate (or pull them out well). Therefore, an important detox strategy is to have chlorella on board at the time of mobilization (taking cilantro) to more effectively chelate the metals out.

5. Spirulina

Spirulina is an edible blue-green algae. It is known for its distinctive green color and strong odor. Spirulina can be effective in removing heavy metals from the nervous system and the liver, because it delivers a strong dose of folic acid. It also offers all eight of the essential amino acids, iron, B vitamins, selenium and manganese, resulting in strong therapeutic benefits.

  1. Activated Charcoal

Activated charcoal is a form of carbon, processed into a fine, black powder. It has no odor or taste, so you can drink it mixed with water or take a supplement.

It is safe to consume up to 20-30 grams of activated charcoal per day, probably split between two to three drinks throughout the day. The substance binds to pesticides and other toxins. It then ushers these toxins through the intestines, where the body can purge them. One downside of using activated charcoal is that it may leech other important minerals from the body. It is recommended that you consume molasses when using activated charcoal.

New Virus With NO CURE Spreading: This Is WORSE Than The ‘Black Death’

November 8, 2017 1 comment

Mac Slavo

A new virus for which medical officials have no remedy is spreading. The infectious disease also has a fatality rate of almost 90% making it much more deadly than the black death plaguing Madagascar.

deadly outbreak of a rare and highly fatal virus has broken out in eastern Uganda and five cases have already been identified, the World Health Organization (WHO) has confirmed. The disease is known as the Marburg virus. It is similar to the Ebola virus and can be fatal in up to 88% of cases.

The outbreak of the contagious and deadly Marburg virus disease in the Kween district of eastern Uganda was declared by the nation’s Ministry of Health back on October 19. Since then, five cases have been identified as international aid agencies, stretched thin by Madagascar’s black death outbreak, have rushed to deploy teams on the ground to control the recent outbreak. This news comes amid a surge in cases of plague in Madagascar, which is considered to be the “worst outbreak in 50 years” and now at “crisis” point.

Marburg virus disease (MVD), which causes severe viral hemorrhagic fever, ranks among the most virulent pathogens known to infect humans, according to the World Health Organization. The WHO website reads: “Marburg virus disease is a rare disease with a high mortality rate for which there is no specific treatment. The virus is transmitted by direct contact with the blood, body fluids, and tissues of infected persons or wild animals (e.g. monkeys and fruit bats).” MVD also falls within the same family as the Ebola virus – the hemorrhagic fever that decimated West Africa and killed around 11,000 in 2014 and 2015.

The outbreak is thought to have begun in September when a man in his 30s, who worked as a game hunter and lived near a cave with a heavy presence of bats, was admitted to a local health center with a high fever, vomiting, and diarrhea. The man’s condition deteriorated quickly and he failed to respond to antimalarial treatments. He died after being taken to another hospital, and a short time later, his sister in her 50’s also died of the same ailment.

Emergency screening has begun at the Kenya-Uganda border in Turkana after all three members of the same family died of the disease in Uganda. Health workers have been asked to work with communities to stop the deadly Marburg outbreak from devastating communities in the rural region.

Dr. Zabulon Yoti, a Technical Coordinator for Emergencies at the World Health Organization (WHO) Regional Office for Africa, said: “Community engagement is the cornerstone of emergency response.” He urged health officials to “work with the communities to build their capacity for success and sustainability” and develop a better understanding of the local customs and traditions.

Early symptoms include fever, chills, headache, and myalgia (muscle pain). Several hundred people have been exposed to the virus as officials worry this outbreak could spread rapidly into regions already devastated by the ongoing black death outbreak.

This Amazing Herb Kills 98% of Cancer Cells In Just 16 Hours

November 8, 2017 Leave a comment

While it is widely known that chemotherapy doesn’t work 97% of the time (in fact, people die from chemotherapy, not cancer), there are successful alternative treatments for cancer patients, lemon extract and baking soda destroy cancer cells without harming healthy tissues, and despite the fact that US National Cancer Institute has publicly admitted marijuana kills cancer cells, the largely preventable disease kills over 9 million people across the world annually.

Specifically, cancer claims the lives of more than half a million Americans every year — one of every four deaths in the United States is due to cancer, a purely man-made disease. In 2017, there will be an estimated 1,688,780 new cancer cases diagnosed and 600,920 cancer deaths in the United States.

However, the deadly statistics may change if we pay attention to artemisinin – an Artemisia Annua (sweet wormwood) derivative, which in combination with iron can wipe out 98% of cancer cells in less than 16 hours with zero impact on the healthy cells.

Used in Chinese medicine to treat malaria, artemisinin and artemisinin-derived compounds have been shown to exhibit antiviral, anti-inflammatory, anti-parasitic, anti-allergic, anti-fibrotic, anti-arrhythmic, immune-regulatory and contraceptive actions.

In a 2005 study conducted by researchers at the University of Washington, it was found that artemesinin killed iron-enriched breast cancer cells without negatively affecting the healthy cells. Alone, the researchers claimed, the herb caused a 28% reduction in breast cancer cells, but partnered with iron, the duo almost completely erased cancer. They concluded:

“By itself, artemisinin is about 100 times more selective in killing cancer cells as opposed to normal cells. In this study, the new artemisinin compound was 34,000 times more potent in killing the cancer cells as opposed to their normal cousins. So the tagging process appears to have greatly increased the potency of artemisinin’s cancer-killing properties.”

The original peer reviewed journal article can be found here, where the researchers conclude “artemisinin and artemisinin-tagged iron-carrying compounds could be developed into powerful anti-cancer drugs”. Here and here are other peer reviewed studies for those who wish to read more.

Then in 2012, researchers at the University of California found that artemisinin selectively attacked “bad” cells, and left “good” cells untouched. They noted:

“Artemisinin, a sesquiterpene phytolactone derived from Artemisia annua, is a potent antimalarial compound with promising anticancer properties, although the mechanism of its anticancer signaling is not well understood.

“…our results demonstrate that the artemisinin disruption of E2F1 transcription factor expression mediates the cell cycle arrest of human breast cancer cells and represents a critical transcriptional pathway by which artemisinin controls human reproductive cancer cell growth.”

Tu Youyou, a Chinese pharmaceutical chemist, was awarded the 2015 Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine for discovering artemisinin and its treatment of malaria, which is regarded as a significant breakthrough in 20th century tropical medicine and saved millions of lives in South Asia, Africa, and South America.

In the past, artemisinin has been identified as a substance with a strong anti-cancer potential in various cancer cells such as:

What makes artemisinin so effective? Cancer Treatments explains:

“Artemisinin can be very effective because it selectively affects tumor cells without harming normal cells. This is because artemisinin affects only cells that contain excessive amounts of iron which is the case for cancer cells. Indeed, via specific receptors cancer cells are demanding and depositing large amounts of Iron as they need it for cellular division. When coming in contact with iron, artemisinin triggers the release of intracellular free radicals that destroy [cancer] cells.”
