‘I love you and I’m going to kill you…’
(Joshua Paladino, Liberty Headlines) Federal authorities charged an illegal alien, who the Mecklenburg County Sheriff’s Office released twice despite his criminal past, with kidnapping on Thursday.
The Mecklenburg County Sheriff’s Office—the department of anti-ICE sheriff Garry McFadden—first arrested 37-year-old Luis Analberto Pineda-Anchecta, a Honduran citizen, on May 15 for assault by strangulation, kidnapping, assault on a female, communicating threats and violation of a domestic violence protective order.
Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) lodged a detainer for Pineda-Anchecta, but the sheriff’s office ignored the detainer and released him a day later.
Then, the illegal alien allegedly committed another crime against the same female, his ex-girlfriend, on May 21, WSOCTV reported.
According to the federal complaint that U.S. Attorney Andrew Murray submitted, Pineda-Anchecta and a male accomplice found the ex-girlfriend as she was leaving her apartment.
They reportedly seized her, gagged her mouth with a cloth, and strung a rope around her neck, before dragging her into a vehicle.
Once in the car, Pineda-Amchecta said, “I love you and I’m going to kill you.”
After traveling on Lancaster Highway, he parked and took the woman to a wooded location.
The ex-girlfriend escaped the mens’ control, fled to a highway, and was helped by passersby.
Charlotte-area police issued a second warrant for his arrest.
But Pineda-Anchecta did not surrender easily.
He barricaded himself in his apartment, causing a 9-hour standoff with police, including a SWAT unit.
Despite these back-to-back incidents, the Mecklenburg County Sheriff’s Office again released Pineda-Anchecta without notifying ICE.
An ICE team was able to arrest the illegal alien shortly after the sheriff’s office released him.
Federal authorities convicted Pineda-Anchecta of illegal reentry to the United States after a prior deportation. He was sentenced to seven months in prison.
He faces up to life in prison for the kidnapping charge.
