After the incredibly embarrassing exit of Amazon from the New York area, most have laid the blame at the feet of the socialist sweetheart, Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez.

After a billboard sign posted in Times Square and a contentious democratic party trying oust her, many have come together to try to clean up the mess that she made.

But how do you get a the world’s largest online retailer to forgive such a horrendous snub? You get all the big players in New York together and you grovel.

Lawmakers and business leaders are begging Amazon to reconsider aborting its plan to build a major hub in New York City.

In an open letter addressed to Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos, politicians and leaders of companies including Mastercard, JetBlue and Goldman Sachs wrote, in part, “We urge you to reconsider, so that we can move forward together.”

The letter was published online Thursday and is scheduled to appear in Friday’s edition of The New York Times.

That’s got to be a blow to freshman representative Ocasio-Cortez, who was instrumental in Amazon exiting from New York in the first place.

Rather than focusing on her antagonistic fight against the multi-billion dollar company, they focused on the “debate” that was “not very welcoming.”

As reported by CNBC:

“We know the public debate that followed the announcement of the Long Island City project was rough and not very welcoming. Opinions are strong in New York — sometimes strident,” wrote the signatories, which included Rep. Carolyn Maloney, D-N.Y., New York State AFL-CIO President Mario Cilento, State University of New York Chancellor Kristina Johnson, United Federation of Teachers President Michael Mulgrew and Morgan Stanley Chairman and CEO James Gorman. “We consider it part of the New York charm! But when we commit to a project as important as this, we figure out how to get it done in a way that works for everyone.”

The local leaders join New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo in calls for the company to reconsider its Valentine’s Day announcement that it would no longer build part of its new headquarters in Long Island City after a frosty welcome from local politicians and local activists. On Thursday night, the Times reported that Cuomo has been speaking with Amazon executives, including CEO Jeff Bezos, and making the case for the company’s return.

So how likely is it that Jeff Bezos will accept the apology?

Did the groveling work? NOPE.

At the time, Amazon said it did not plan to reopen its search and would instead remain focused on its other HQ2 location in Virginia as well as its other established offices around the country.

Amazon declined to comment to CNBC on the open letter.

The open letter to Amazon was the not the first time that New Yorkers have gone against AOC for her ridiculous anti-economical antics.

She was recently the recipient of a nasty billboard lit up in Times Square with the tag phrase “Thanks For Nothing, AOC!” which you can read about by clicking HERE.

Still, her antics appear to have worked.

So in the end, it looks like Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez has won, and New York, unfortunately, has lost.
