Amid the riots and protests around the country following the 2020 election, law enforcement was not supported in many areas. some cities and states voted to defund police departments and did follow through with that, instigating a crime wave that sorely taxed the remaining force. High-profile cases of criminals being apprehended with force were twisted into stories of law enforcement gone wrong. A few instances of officers who stepped over lines were blown up in the media in an apparent effort to create hate toward law enforcement.

But in the state of Florida, Governor Ron DeSantis has firmly been appreciative of law enforcement and has supported the force in a number of ways.
