Jean-Pierre responds with long-winded non-answer before blaming Biden’s woes on Republicans.

White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre had her work cut out for her on Monday after Fox News reporter Peter Doocy took her to task on Joe Biden’s abysmal record on inflation.

“If Biden’s top domestic priority is inflation, why doesn’t he have more to show for it?” Doocy asked Jean-Pierre in the White House press room.

Jean-Pierre pulled out her typical empty talking points: “So, the president understands…that inflation is an issue, high cost, cost is an issue for the American people, and so he’s been very clear about making that his #1 economic priority – and he’s done the work!”

Doocy tried again, pointing out to Karine that most people think Biden is doing terribly on inflation for a reason.

“But who exactly thinks Biden is doing a good job on inflation? Because…he receives his lowest job ratings on inflation. Net negative 38 points,” Doocy noted.

Jean-Pierre pivoted and blamed Republicans for the continued 40-year-high inflation.

“Republicans in Congress refuse, they refuse to be partners with us on this,” she answered. “They refuse to help us. You think about the American Rescue Plan that has helped create an economy that is indeed resilient, that created jobs, they refuse to help.”

Later, Doocy referred to Biden’s “American Rescue Plan” spending bill likely contributing to inflation, but Jean-Pierre insisted the bill is “popular with the American people.”

“They are popular. They are popular with the American people,” she said. “They understand, the American people understand what these pieces of legislation that we have worked so hard to get across the line, that are now law, is going to change lives of the American people. Now, is there work to be done? There’s always more work to be done but we are taking the steps to do that. Again, congressional Republicans, they are doing nothing, absolutely nothing. They want to repeal, they want to take away the advances we have made.”

When asked for an approximate timeline of when Biden’s spending bills will help the American people, Jean-Pierre admitted she had no idea.

Inflation is the top issue among the American people going into the midterm elections, according to a recent Harvard-Harris poll.
