Get down, get down, get down, stay down! We got multiple shooters everywhere!
Video caught on an officer’s body cam shows the moment police arrive at a 4th of July neighborhood party, where gunshots had been reported. Looking more like a scene from a horror movie with hysterical people running for cover, the officers faced multiple shooters seemingly firing from every direction.
According to Toledo Police, hundreds of people were fighting near Lawrence Avenue and North Detroit Avenue during a block party just after midnight, when the sound of gunfire could be distinguished over exploding fireworks. According to Police Chief George Kral, more than 80 rounds were fired from multiple guns leaving one person dead and eleven others injured.
Watch as heroic police officers rush into harm’s way yelling, “get down, get down, get down, stay down! Find cover!” as frantic party-goers scatter:
The single fatality, a 17-year-old identified as Stephon Johnson, was flown to the University of Michigan by Life Flight, where he succumbed to his injuries. Two others were in critical condition but expected to recover; a 51-year-old man and a 19-year-old. Nine others, mostly teens, and one 11-year-old child were listed in stable condition.
Jorrel Johnson, Stephon Johnson’s father, pleads for help in identifying his son’s killers, “I know how the neighborhoods work so I’m not expecting anybody to say anything, but it would be amazing and it would really lift weight off us if somebody said something because I know somebody knows something. The streets talk,” he said.
“Stephon Johnson, 17, was shot and killed when multiple people opened fire during a massive block party on Lawrence and Detroit Avenue in the early hours of July 5. Eleven others were hurt and two are still in critical condition as of Tuesday, July 6.”

The devastated father describes his son, saying, “He loved to play sports. He loved to make people laugh. He loved to put smiles on people. He was my son and I don’t mean as a child, I mean as the biggest star in my sky. He just wanted to be the best and he was destined for greatness and he didn’t even get to graduate”.
The ATF is offering a $5,000 reward for information leading to the arrest of people responsible in Sunday night’s block party shooting that left one dead and 11 others injured.

Toledo Police Department has yet to name a single suspect, and in mind-boggling defiance of logic, witnesses are not cooperating. The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives is offering a $5,000 reward for information.
